Fat People

The US sugar lobby and Federal policies make corn syrup cheaper than sugar.

Should we be able to sue Washington for making us fat?

:mischief:

Eh. That would be a decent argument for stopping subsidies, you'd think. Funny how it never gets a mention in political races.
"I promise to cut government subsidies to the corn industry because I believe in the free market, and I want the US people to get thin!"

Win-win, it seems.

Maybe they're on vacation :mischief:

Or they could just not be American. They do have semetic features and are wearing european style athletic clothing as well. I bet it's from israel or greece if anything.

And btw... Americans most likely would not go to... mcdonalds, a place we are all too familer with, while on vacation. Then again, that is most likely. Your observation simply does not make much sense on many levels.

European style clothing? I've seen gazillions of Americans that age wearing that sort of athletic clothes. I don't see the semetic features you refer to either, they look perfectly American to me, its not like Americans don't have people of semetic background. And who are you to say that this family with kids obsessed with McDonalds would not go there on vacation? Adults typically wouldn't choose to go there, but if they have kids they would.

And my "observation" doesn't make sense on many levels because it never existed. I was pointing out another possibility. Lighten-up would ya please?

I don't see any American logo's on it. They are not Americans on vacation. You can spot them from miles away. Again, your off base big time. 99% of the time any police detective will tell you, if it looks funny... it is. And I can say that these chunky monkeys are not american.

And they have dark hair and eyes, naturally tanned skin that does not show excessive redness or that funky orange " tanning bed " tan. That screams med or middle east to me. Oh and the Hebrew writing on the sign

I was pointing out another possibility.

... hence making an observation.

WTH? 80% of his shirt is not even visible due to his napkin, drink, we can only see the front, and the fact that part of it is under the table. I'm surprised Mr. Observation overlooked that...

 So there's no Hebrew-looking people in America? Now I can certainly tell your observation skillz are bad.

What about the kid's hat? It looks like something Nascar affiliated to me. Or is your average Hebrew kid totally into Nascar?

... hence making an observation.

As a person majoring in science, I can assure you that giving another suggestion does not equal an observation, pal.

And that is not a jersey for an American team. The USA team has one that comes close

images_x%5Chamm-jersey-red-front-nameonback-thumb.jpg

And that ain't it. Looks like a local thing to me. If you can proove otherwise, please do.

So there's no Hebrew-looking people in America? Now I can certainly tell your observation skillz are bad.

Yeah... and when they spend thousands of dollars to go to a far away place they eat at MacDonalds. Sure. Again, looks like you have the burden of proof and you can not make a case for them being Americans. They are not in America... that right there says a lot. Sorry to eat your point and burp it back out but your logic is off base and not adding up to the facts I have presented. These people look like Israeli's and suprise... there is hebrew writing on the wall! Sure, they are American's on vacation... and I have a bridge in brooklyn for sale. Slightly used.

What about the kid's hat? It looks like something Nascar affiliated to me. Or is your average Hebrew kid totally into Nascar?

Looks like... it could also be just a red hat. You can't say it's a nascar hat cause well... we can't see a logo. That sign in hebrew for the big mac is a bit more well... obvious and we can see that. But hey, some people will keep going for the sake of keeping it going.

As a person majoring in science, I can assure you that giving another suggestion does not equal an observation, pal.

ob·ser·va·tion

1. an act or instance of noticing or perceiving.
2. an act or instance of regarding attentively or watching.
3. the faculty or habit of observing or noticing.

" Or they could be on vacation " fits that bill to me. Apprently Websters too. Then again, playing with words while overlooking at the facts does not impress me. As for what the shirts say... it dosen't even look like english. Your obviously not a criminal science major. Stick to what your good at, cause your obviously wrong in this instance.

So you post a picture of an American soccer jersey in order to prove the kid in the picture is wearing European athletic clothes? :crazyeye:

You come to the conclusion that because there is no logo on the kid's shirt, it must not be an American-bought shirt? :crazyeye:

Yeah... and when they spend thousands of dollars to go to a far away place they eat at MacDonalds.

The kid obviously likes McDonalds, if you couldn't already tell. If the kid looks like this, the parent is likely similar, and has a similar affinity for McDonalds' food. Going away to a foreign place doesn't entail eating at some foo-fooey European diner that charges outrageous prices due to high tourist activity.

Again, looks like you have the burden of proof and you can not make a case for them being Americans.

You have yet to prove they aren't Americans. Looks like the burden of proof is on you, since you and only you seem to be asserting this view. You've only provided mere speculation so-far.

They are not in America... that right there says a lot.

Says a lot about what? That Americans do not vacation?

And what are European Hebrews doing in Israel?

Sorry to eat your point and burp it back out but your logic is off base and not adding up to the facts I have presented. These people look like Israeli's and suprise... there is hebrew writing on the wall!

So you never visit relatives that live somewhere other than where you live? You never visit places that directly relate to your ancestry/ethnicity?

Sure, they are American's on vacation... and I have a bridge in brooklyn for sale. Slightly used.

So if I started a separate thread asking if this kid looks like he could be American, you'd have a majority disagreeing with me? :scan:

Looks like... it could also be just a red hat.

With the signature Nascar flames on it and typical colors. It looks like...it could also be a Nascar hat!

You can't say it's a nascar hat cause well... we can't see a logo.

You can't say it's European clothes cause well... 80% of the dude's shirt is covered.

So if I hypothetically never saw the picture, and I suggested what I said: "Or they could be on vacation" based upon your own observations, I would be making an observation about the picture? :crazyeye:

You come to the conclusion that because there is no logo on the kid's shirt, it must not be an American-bought shirt?

Yes, it simply does not look like an american jersey and you can't prove otherwise. It does look like a style that is rather common in europe, were the sport of " football " is hugely popular. Not so much in the US, were we have diffrent football, baseball and basketball. Considering they are in a micky d's in israel... safe bet and smart money is they are israeli.

Again... you can't proove that. The place is not in america. They do not look american to me. They are not wearing american style clothing so obviously, unless you can proove otherwise, they are not americans.

Says a lot about what? That Americans do not vacation?

No, that they are not in america. Hence my whole basis for the other evidence that you can not make a very solid case against aside from " they might be " and that is hardly convinceing.

So you never visit relatives that live somewhere other than where you live? You never visit places that directly relate to your ancestry/ethnicity?

I have, many times. I tend not to look like the locals as well and get asked " American? " all the time. You can spot tourists eazily, anywere. I lived in NYC, seen thousands of them. Europeans, Asians, Africans. All of them stick out by clothing, accent and mannerisms. In this case, apperance and clothing as well as the sign in hebrew, make it obvious imho. You can't prove otherwise aside from what you deem a " suggestion "

So if I started a separate thread asking if this kid looks like he could be American, you'd have a majority disagreeing with me?

I'd say more would agree with me than you. Majority? who knows.

With the signature Nascar flames on it and typical colors. It looks like...it could also be a Nascar hat!

Or an orange county choppers hat, wich I've seen on europeans while in europe or just about any company that uses flames in it's design. Hell I shot an insurgant in Fallujah dead and he was wearing an rpg harness and a FUBU shirt with Nikes on his feet... new ones at that. Your point?

You can't say it's European clothes cause well... 80% of the dude's shirt is covered.

It's an obvious european style football jersey. Not that popular in the US at all compaired to american football, baseball and basketball.

It's not an american basketball jersey, I know of no team that has that logo. None. Not one. It does have the tanktop desigin. About it. Basketball is more and more popular in europe as well.

It's not an american football jersey, no numbers of a player on the upper arm.

Not an american baseball jersey, lacks the MLB logo on the sleve.

So... hey, again the facts are with me. Opinion with you. I'll go with the facts.

So if I hypothetically never saw the picture, and I suggested what I said: "Or they could be on vacation" based upon your own observations, I would be making an observation about the picture?

Yes. According to websters and new oxford too. But hey, you think what you want and I'll think what I want. I just have a lot more facts behind me. Includeing location and style of clothing... oh and micky d's in the usa stopped serving that size french fry last year due to the whole " supersize me " movie and drama. Looks like I may be correct, from a scientific perspective.

The letters on the big mac do look like hebrew at first glance, on closer inspection, they still look like hebrew, but it isn't. I also failed to spot any semitic features.

I've seen countless styles of athletic clothing in the US just like this, not to mention it could even just be some generic brand that doesn't have to be modeled after a specific sport. You can't prove otherwise.

Again... you can't proove that. The place is not in america. They do not look american to me.

Prove to me they're not American first, because they look awfully darn American to me.

No, that they are not in america. Hence my whole basis for the other evidence that you can not make a very solid case against aside from " they might be " and that is hardly convinceing.

Americans vacation outside of America ALL THE TIME. Hence my whole basis for the other evidence that you cannot make a very solid case against aside from "it looks European" and "they aren't in America", and that is hardly convincing.

I have, many times. I tend not to look like the locals as well and get asked " American? " all the time. You can spot tourists eazily, anywere. I lived in NYC, seen thousands of them. Europeans, Asians, Africans. All of them stick out by clothing, accent and mannerisms.

Well I already shot down your clothing argument, considering I've seen identical stuff in America. But I find it puzzling that you know this kid's accent and mannerisms based off a still picture.

In this case, apperance and clothing as well as the sign in hebrew, make it obvious imho.

Funny, you're the only one that thinks it is obvious...

You can't prove otherwise aside from what you deem a " suggestion "

How many proofs have you provided other than mere potentialities?

I'd say more would agree with me than you. Majority? who knows.

Really? Is that why so many people are jumping to your support right now, and why everyone else seemed to think they are American?

Or an orange county choppers hat, wich I've seen on europeans while in europe or just about any company that uses flames in it's design. Hell I shot an insurgant in Fallujah dead and he was wearing an rpg harness and a FUBU shirt with Nikes on his feet... new ones at that. Your point?

Show me exactly how the shirt is European, other than "It looks European to me derrrrrr".

It's an obvious european style football jersey. Not that popular in the US at all compaired to american football, baseball and basketball.

Its funny that you automatically assume it is modeled after a particular sport style...but I'm sure your ability to see through cups, napkins, the kid's bone and flesh, and under the table are reason enough for me to agree with you.

I'd like to know how you scientifically obtained the data that allowed you to conclude when the picture was taken...and how you propose potentialities as facts because they are soooooooo obvious. Yes, very scientific.

Atlas....the kid might, or might not be american. You cant really tell from that photo.

I agree, all I'm saying is that he looks pretty American to me. BW seems to think that his assertion is fact, which it is pretty hard to prove from the given photo.

Again...everyone can 'look' american...however, the Big Mac sign in the window is certainly not in english.....most likely the photo was not taken in the USA. Be that as it may, it still does nothing to prove the nationality of kid in question.
