Favorite albums of the year?

We're nearing the end of 2005 and usually december isn't a good month for album releases anyway, lets list our favorite albums here. I don't believe in comparing apples and eggs so lets make lists of favorite albums in different genre... and instead of dropping huge lists of all the albums you bought or *cough* downloaded the past months, let's narrow the lists per genre down to 3 albums.

Anyway for me it is the following:

Hiphop:

1. Reef the Lost Cause - Feast or Famine:

2. Cage - Hell's Winter:

3. The Perceptionists - Black Dialogue:

Rock / Metal:

1. System of a Down - Hypnotize:

2. System of a Down - Mezmerize:

I hate to say it, but these are the only albums in this genre that were able to catch my ear this year. One of the few bands that doesn't water down in my opinion, even though some people think otherwise.

Millencolin - Kingwood is the only album released this year that I've bought, and it's friggin awesome.

Nobody talks about albums anymore, albums are finished.
That's like 20th Century stuff.
MP3 destroyed the album of music

I liked Franz Ferdinand's You Could Have It So Much Better:

I also liked The White Stripes Get Behind Me Satan:

I think those were the only two new albums I liked this year.

Some of Live 8 was good (The Who).
Snapped up a Pogues Live in Brixton.
Also I thought SOAD's Mesmerise had some good stuff on (I can't afford to really buy CDs  )

I think Nas's last effort deserves to be on the hip-hop list...hmmm, there's more, but my mind is going blank...

The only CD I bought is Rosenrot by Rammstein. Link in my signature. :D

I can't say I really buy albums as they come out very often... don't think I have any from this year, but I couldn't say for sure.

yeah usually unless its a really good album, ill wait for it to be in a used CD store.

Fear Factory-Transgression. Good album but not one of their best.

System Of A Down's 'Mezmerize' has some very good tracks on, as does Rammstein's 'Rosenrot'.

Nine Inch Nails 'With Teeth' is also brilliant.

Those 3 are my top so far.

Other than that i've been buying lots of albums released in previous years.

Enough people must purchase albums to allow the artists to continue, or no more mp3s are released either...

Personally, I can't say that all my albums are legally purchased, but I have no downloaded mp3s. I'll only aquire full quality albums, which I can then burn selected songs from onto mixed cds and rip into my organized folders in the formats and qualities which I choose.

^ Plus when an album is done right, it transcends the songs on it. It combines to create a whole mood.

Exactly, I would hate it if albums would get replaced by mp3s only. I will pay money to be able to obtain an original copy of an album. Once the only way to buy music will be the internet and mp3, I will not buy it anymore. I don't believe in that. It's cheaper to produce for the music industry, yet they put all of the efficiency benefits in their own pocket and let you pay a dollar per song.

Blackalicious' "The Craft" is pretty good. I particulary like "World of Vibrations" and "Sonic Wardrums".
Black Eyed Peas' "Monkey Business" has some good tracks as well.

Rosenrot is awesome.
