Favorite Civs?

I Like the Iroquois the best.
Build up a Huge army of thier unique horsemen, early in the game, and you will be virtualy unstoppable.
I also like them for the agricultrural trait, the cities grow much faster,
wich in turn means more shield production.

The Most Difficult ones to play as,,for me anyways,,are the Americans
and Germans. The unique units come so late that early growth is difficult.
But man,,get a decent sized Germany going and once you get those Panzers
rolling,,look out world!
Am a bit dissapointed with the Americans unique unit in the game, The F-15.
Never really noticed any usefull advantage for it to be of decisive edge in the
the game. Kinda wished it was M1A2 Abrams instead.

I have a semi-mod (not one really to be released) There are changes. like the Americans new unique is the famous civil war. Yankee, which replaces the rifleman. and no it has nothing to do with Derek Jeter.

I'm a little surprised the American's UU wasn't an upgraded marine, or perhaps a scout mod. Seems to me that Marines are the thing that people think about when they think about US armed forces, not a fighter.

1. Maya, Agricultural and industrial=>fits like a glove
2. France
3. Iroquois
4. HANNIBAL! :p
5. Japan

I normally play Emperor on a on Huge Map with Spaceship and Conquest being the only 2 win options ... so it's got to be

Celts - If I want to ensure that I can wipe every other civ off the face of the map.

Rome - If I want an extended bloodbath

Germany or Russia - If I want to grasp victory after a slow start.

Japan or America - If I want my arse kicked (for some unkown reason whenever I play either of these two I always seem to start "sandwiched" between 2 of the following:
Persians (UU say no more)
Celts (awesome UU)
Rome
Carthage (wicked defensive UU in the NM)

Hello,
I play at DG level, usally with all random map.
My favorites:

1. Random.;) I like to try something new.
2. Hittites. Poor UU, but they have both my favourites traits. Good traders IMO, much better than their reputation.
3. Zulus. Very fun to play. :trouble: :spank: :hammer2:
4. Aztecs. With their UU, they seem to have 3 traits.
5. Portugal. King of explorers => king of traders. And yes, I like the outsiders.

My favorites
1-Ottomans though ı dont have play the world and conquests.
2-Iraquois ı love mounted warrior and Hiawatha very much.and mounted warrior is really powerful unit..
3-Germany-they have PANZER factor and Bismarck in industrial age is too cool.
4-Russia-ı love cossacks

I'm just wandering how you got these civs? i downloaded the 1.29f patch, is there something i'm missing?

i'm currently playing the original civs 3

I think C3C had more civs than the original. I play conquests (aka C3C).

ty, i guess i'll have to find me a copy of c3c :D, btw is that a expansion or a whole new game?

my favorate civs are,

Japan, i love the samurai :D,
Persians, idus & immortals rock(though iron resources are always a bich to find when i play this civ, weird)

Japan is my absolute favorite. Samurai FTW :D

But seriously I can't understand how cloth-wearing samurai can have more defense than knight in plate and run at 70km/h(aka as fast as horses) :crazyeye:

Number 1 - Portugal| Hey! Its my country!

Killers - Sumeria, Iroquois, Maya, Aztecs, Celts and Zulu.

Love to play with Carthage - it can be one of the best if playing huge maps (el mencey´s 362x362) pbems or hotseat games, industrial - workers 2x faster and seadomination and expantion early in the game, they lack agricultural meaning you have to get that cows and wheat really fast ;).

Numidian mercenary - An hoplite with 2 attack? Wicked....playable till Cavalry comes along.

favourite civ - English

not on Pangea they can be unbeatable.
Start with pottery and fast ships mean its not hard to keep up with the tech lead. And add on the fact u get extra gold from the sea to finance your research and england is not as bad as it sounds i the beggining.
Fantastic UU that can make your land invulnerable and give you a huge navy for very small upkeep.

oh and seafaring + Commerce = gold gold gold

oh and seafaring + Commerce = gold gold gold
I thought seafaring + Commerce = food gold gold, I'm probably wrong, what does seafaring do again (besides extra movement and cheaper harbors)?

extra commerce in coastal city's core.

Ahh, I thought it was foods.
I still think Industrious or agricultural would result in more commerce. At least for most of the game.
