What are your favorite Hollywood depictions of your homeland. Whether it be you like the movie, or you find the depiction to be amusingly innaccurate.
The movie should take place in where you are from and not necessarily filmed there (e.g. if your from Tunisia you should't really count Star Wars).

I'm from Chicago so my favorite movies that take place in the city are-
Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Blues Brothers, The Untouchables, and
Wayne's World; which is supposed to take place in the same county where I grew up, but is an innaccurate representation of Aurora, Illinois.

The only one I can think of is 'Zodiac.' It happened in the same county I live in. The Zodiac killer was a serial killer in the bay area a long time ago (I guess not that long, but to me it was a long time ago).

There are lots of movies that take place in the Bay Area, especially San Francisco, but I live in Napa (Wine country :) ) And so 'Zodiac' is the only one I can think of that happened near or in Napa.

And obviously there are a TON of films that take place in California in general.

Needful Things among other Stephen King works about small town New Englanders and murder.

Too many to choose from :p

Although, specifically, my county (Westchester, NY) has a couple good ones.

X-men, Dr. Xavier's school is located in Westchester
Sleepy Hollow; movie of the same name, Sleepy Hollow is a town in Westchester, story takes place there

As a side note, part of the movie "Stepmom" was filmed in my elementary school while I was attending, which was pretty crazy

I can't think of anything supposedly set near here where the people making the thing knew a damned thing about the area. 4 or 5 seasons in Gilmour Girls looked up a bit of area trivia. :p

Erm...um...ah yes!!!

The abomination that is The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course.

I am forced to go for Finding Nemo. I loved that movie the first five times I saw it.

Though I no longer live there, I'm originally from Livonia, Michigan, which is a suburb of Detroit.

So Robocop it is!

I havent seen any of these movies, but nevertheless

A scene in the Tom Hanks' movie That Thing You Do has a scene set at my college (though they got our school colors wrong

The movie Snow Day or whatever it was called was the only movie I know of set in Syracuse.

Edit: Now that I think of it, at least some of The Express might have taken place there.

none. why? EVERYTHING is filmed here. especially the ones set in chicago/ny/seattle.

but the one time in every so often a major picture gets set here, it bombs (à la Love Guru), and hollywood is afraid to try it again.

I don't remember many movies set in Bavaria.
