I get this asked a lot so I though I would post a topic on it. Here are the settings I use. Feel free to post your own setting and why you use them.

    ------

Custom Games are a must when you play this mod. The settings I use are as follows ...

My Custom Setting for C2C v33

Map: C2C_PerfectWorld2f (I like how it forms realistic biomes)
Size: (Use the biggest your computer can handle. Also use viewports to speed up the game on larger maps.)
Era: Prehistoric (You need to get the full effect from the beginning)
Speed: Snail (Anything faster is just too fast for this mod. I would do Eternity but its too slow for me).
New World Rules: Start in Old World (This makes it so I can found colonies later)
Pangaea Rules: (Either Choice is fine. I have yet to see an advantage to either other than more land wars on Pangaea)
Wrap Options: Cylinder (I just like this setting)
Team Rules: (I don't play on teams so it doesn't matter)

Options (Only listing the ones I check off)
    - Start As Minor Civ (This is a MUST!! I love this option.)
    - Usable Mountains (This is such an awesome mod. Not sure why its not just required.)
    - Surround and Destroy (Great for city attacking).
    - Advanced Diplomacy (It makes AI interactions so much more interesting)
    - Barbarian Generals (Makes them more fun to battle)
    - Assimilation (This is such a cool feature. It also is really needed to obtain non-native cultures)
    - Great Commanders (Makes battles more fun)
    - Culturally Linked Starts (I am not sure if this always works out. But it sounds good in theory)
    - Advanced Economy (Not sure how it works, but it sounds cool).
    - Realistic Culture Spread (I find this makes the game a bit more challenging. Which I like.)
    - Religious Decay (A must have since there are TONS of types of religions.)
    - Barbarians Always Raze (This is more of a personal preference)
    - United Nations (A must have if you pick Mastery Victory)
    - Advanced Espionage (Come on its spies! Why would you not want this?)
    - Modern Corporations (Makes the most out of the Modern Era)
    - Advanced Nukes (Shout out to Civ Fuehrer and his awesome mod!)
    - Infinite XP (Personal preference)
    - Developing Leaders (Its very cool to add-on new traits as you progress)

Victories (Only listing the ones I check off)
    - Mastery (This is all you need since its all of them combined into one.)

BUG Menu (Non-Default Stuff I check off)
    - Resource Depletion (This just makes it more realistic for me for resources to run out over time.)
    - Multiple Religion Spread (I think it is more realistic this way)
    - Terrain Damage (This makes the game much more interesting for me if i get hurt from deserts and tundra. Without it I feel like I am cheating.)

I tend to use C2C archipelago maps (giant). Snail for speed. Definitely prehistoric start. Also like PerfectMongoose and the GEM scenario map.

Options wise the ones I regard as important are:

    Large cities
    REV
    Guilds
    Usable mountains
    Advances diplomacy
    Flexible difficulty
    Assimilation

I have begun to explore more BUG settings such as assassinate GP. Any recommendations for BUG settings?

Multiple Production Multiple Research Usable Mountains Assimilation all ON the 4 must haves.

    Larger citieson

    Limited religionson

    No barb civs (more room)

I like realistic corporations they are cool, it influences your civic choice coz you want to encourage corporations to come to your nation.

I like No Wrap, makes it kinda more strategic.

I also like no vassals coz this means AI often backstabs others while they are in a war from another flank where the civilization is weak. When players have to commit armies to finish off civs and not just have them capitulate after 2 turns, it adds more strategy.

Custom map - Size custom- in between large and huge is what i'd recommend- you'll still need a good computer to run this in modern era but should run well without any slowdown etc.
Snaky continents, hard terrain variation, 6-8 continents with 4 tile seperation (aprox, 12-20 civs i'd recommend for this size).

Great Commanders - although this is a cool option, the AI can't use it very well currently so I turn this off.

Advanced Espionage- OFF i think subverting cities is broken, you still get spy promotions and extra spy missions with this off.

Advanced Diplomacy - This is a good option, HOWEVER - turn off military unit trading in options coz I think this is unbalanced, also worker trading is ok but basically only put it off if your playing a difficulty level your not confident with coz the AI pays alot of $$$ for your workers and i don't think i've ever purchased one.

Tech Brokering - Not allowed, tech trading off completely is a good way to play but it makes the game too slow for me so this is a nice compromise. Abusing diplomacy so to clinch all the new techs is a fundamental strategy again immortal/deity imo.

    Guilds - off

    Advanced Nukes off

Unlimited Wonders I like to have this off, however the AI like it on so i let them enjoy it :)

Modern Corporations off, enough is enough imo.

Start As Minor I don't like this, so off.

Revolutions This is a cool option, however again the AI prefers it off (as in they do better).

Ruthless AI At first I thought this option would be terrible, its actually very important. It was designed to make the AI trade techs with each other WAY more, and the AI also gets much more upset if you trade with people they're at war with as well as some other features. It doesn't mean the AI builds more troops, it just means they are smarter and harder.

Religion Decay on, either way really.

Surround and Destroy Off coz ai doesn't take advantage of it, they're too dumb.

Advanced Economy on, free trade agreements seem to be the only difference and they're cool.

    Barbarian Generals sure why not

Victory Conditions Mastery - who actually plays a civ game to the end? I can't remember ever doing so in a long time, usually I just either concede or am convinced there is no hope for the AI.

United Nations you can build it without winning the game - especially good for Mastery Victory condition.

Should be OK - inflation was recoded because AND inflation was a bit weird (it calculated costs as if your current inflation rate had applied since game start, so a change in inflation [rate] had an immediate large impact on costs rather than an impact over time in future cost changes). I play with advanced economy ON and don't get major inflation issues with the C2C version.

Instead of Play Now use Custom Game and set up everything there.

You have to start the game as a custom game before you make the game.

    Thank you Hydromancerx!
I think that would be the best way if the modders set the difficulty level, the game speed and even all the settings to the C2C, what is the best for the mod especially. This mod is huge, became a new, individual game. Personally, i prefer if there is not too many choices available in the custom game, one time i wanna reach the modern age, i never seen how thats looks like in C2C:lol:
Usually i turn on everything, to have more fun, because the complexity, but after read this topic, iam not sure the extras like revolution etc, are working properly?
The mod not balanced for me, no matter what i set for the start...:wallbash:
I know this mod is still in development, but i cant wait to play a perfect game :D

I prefer playing scenarios, particularily involving the Earth, but that is probably me. XD
    Era: Prehistoric
Speed: I tend to play on the Eternity or Snail speeds, because they alow me to build more and enjoy the units of eras a bit better.

    Victories:
Usually Conquest and Domination, but I've been finding myself enjoying Masteries lately.

    Settings:
No City Razing ( You have to carefully decide when going to war, make sure you don't take on more than you can chew.)
Raging Barbarians (The AI seems to handle it better now than in ROM, Egypt in my scenarios still seems to get eaten alive, guess that is historical)
    Agressive AI (RARGH!)
No Technology Brokering (So I can give my tech away in peace... and not worry about everyone wielding swordsmen, if I give a random country iron working)
    New Random seed on Reload
Start as minor civs (The joys of no diplomacy until I can write, essentially just like barbarians that the Great Wall doesn't deal with. :D )
    Multiple Production
    Multiple Research
    Usable Mountains
    Surround and Destroy
    Advanced Diplomacy
    Unlimited Wonders
    Barbarian Generals (Like Attilla)
Assimilation (The culture resources, some like the Byzantine, I think require this)
Ruthless AI (I like them doing this, with Agressive, I find tech develops at a reasonable not super advanced pace)
Great Commanders (Okay, I'll be honest, I make this right away and let animals come at him from the get go. Usually call him Acularius Astartes)
Culturally Linked Startes (For my non-scenario or no preset ventures)
Personalized Map (Gives the map that homely touch. :) )
    Advanced Economy (YAY!)
Larger Cities (The person who thought of this was genius I say.)
    Realistic Corporations (Makes sense)
Religion Decay (Makes religious spread interesting, it truly does, keeps the religious owners on their toes)
United Nations (I like this feature, without it causing me to win the game or lose if I've been a bad boy, no more Diplomatic victory option needed!)
    Advanced Espionage (Secret Agent Man!)
    Guilds (Medieval joy!)
    Modern Corporations (Huzzah)
    Advanced Nukes (Boom!)
Divine Prophets (Sometimes I have it on, sometimes I use it to beef up my cities, beef up my tech or actually start my religion in my capital. Allows me to deny the AI a religion until they get a GP without my Empire having too many holy cities and the resulting civil wars that occur because early game I give little liberty to religion in order to get the nicest armies pumped out)

Edit: Raging Barbarians and Minor Civs also keeps exploration pretty minimal so I don't know most of the world before the Classical era.

Larger cities is actually a VERY misleading option. Turning it on means you can work the larger radius as soon as your city hits the right culture level. With it OFF you can STILL wok the larger radious, but have to build a metropoliton admin first to enable it (which building is enabled at the same culture level as the automatic working with the option on)

Personally I prefer to need the met admin building, since otherwise that building has little purpose, so although I LOVE large cities I play with the option off!

Sometime I'll get round to changing the option's name/descriptive text a little to make it a bit clearer

Ah, misconception on my part then. Then I say, the idea of "working the larger radius is genius" I say. :D

    Multiple and advanced everything
    Usable mountains
    Great commanders
    Divine prophets
    Large Cities
    Early/Civic Buildings
    RevDCM on
Final Five (occasionally. I know this conflicts with RevDCM but I use to simulate periodic societal collapses of civs)
    Barb civs
A few other things I may be forgetting

Diplo and space race turned off
