Typically something like an Abrams in combat would be difficult to hide, but if a tank could linger beneath a thick forest of trees and operate while remaining entirely silent and not emitting heat, the combat advantages would be enormous.

I don't like any of these. The first two quotes both seem to be talking about energy in general, rather than weapons. And the third is very generic.

Yeah true but the idea of the tech is to get off of the need for solid or liquid fuel as provided by a supply line to military forces. So I do seem some relativity.

Yeah that article is speaking entirely to the point of the tech! Really is amazing how many benefits it provides to go that way - plus one thing this article doesn't talk about as much is that the energy weaponry of the future will require a hell of a lot of electricity and we have quite a few new on the site electric generation mechanisms of a much improved nature on the horizon as well, from miniature fusion generators to full-spectrum solar panels. IMO, the main reason we continue this whole thing with fossil fuels at all is not just a matter of transition time but also because our whole hope since WWII is that we could contain dependency on fossil fuels worldwide on weapons of war and then when the stuff literally ran out we'd be the only players left in the game that could field an effective fighting force. Biofuels and constantly finding more oil than we ever imagined existed under the surface of the Earth has led to the collapse of that strategy as a concept, in addition to realizing what potential strengths could be had by expanding electric as a baseline fuel as well. Of course, to produce weapons like these, our economic model requires we are willing to sell them to nations around the world that COULD turn them right around on us. Therefore it's been a resistance to 'letting the cat out of the bag' and letting everyone have it so to speak. Also the whole thing about rare earth metals is not among our greatest deposit resources.
