Erebus of course.

Angels, demons, Ctulthu and all, fitting seamlessly together. Great background and every kind of adventures possible, from tiny quests to epic apocalyptic battles.

I don`t know about D&D but my favorite setting is the Games Workshop`s Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 settings regarding gaming, novels.. everything.

Both fantasy and 40k have elves. Well, the Elder in 40k are sort of elven (and would be responsible for warhammer fantasy world existing as it does too). Both have a dark elf/elder.

And yes, GamesWorkshop has done a great job with the background for both 40k and Fantasy.
