Feedback and working thread for the Articles Listing project

I object to the use of CE because it reminds me of Church of England ;)

I am incredibly distraught. I had a beautiful, lovingly crafted dissertation on Caesar Augustus' outright, intentional theft of the Greek religion as a tool to control the Greek people. Every fact cited, and every sentence full of import. I recently got a new computer, and perhaps because I wrote this long ago and somewhat forgot about it, I failed to transfer the file. My creation is lost forever.
At any rate, I intend to write a piece about the Iroquois. Now this is certainly not my area of expertise; I specialize in European history, from the Bronze Age to the fall of Communism. However, there are a plethora of European scholars, as well as European articles. I've been requested to write about the Iroquois, and have noticed a dearth of Northern Native American articles. I live where the Iroquois used to dwell, in fact, the current capital of the Iroquois Confederacy is only an hour's drive away: Syracuse, NY, the future center of the largest mall in America. As a result, it shouldn't be too much trouble to collect some evidence to make sure the things I think about the Iroquois are true. Maybe I'll even call the Confederacy's Historical center, what the hell, its a reason to learn something. So, give me a few days to make sure I'm not lying to you, and I should have a decent Iroquois article. Don't expect too much though, they have few written records, they spread their history (and still do) through oral tradition more than anything else, so most information about them is either highly dubious in origin, or biased from the point of view of European explorers.

Sorry I'm slow with the Iroquois article, but I couldn't find a good map of their lands, so I had to make one myself. Its not perfect, but its better than anything I could find online or in libraries. It occurs to me now that I'm not even sure I can post it on this forum. Some help?

If you save it as a .gif or .jpg file, you can use the "upload file" link at the bottom of every forum page :)

How to add pictures/files

The first task is to save your file so it is a valid format to be uploaded. This means pictures should be gifs, jpgs or pngs not bmps and other files may have to be zipped before they can be uploaded.

Then there are two options.

You can either click on the advanced post reply option and then scroll down to the bottom half of the window where there will be a button with "Manage attachments" on it. Click on it and a pop up will appear where you can select the picture you want to upload. Then click on upload and eventually it will finish, then you can close the popup and the picture will have been attached to your post when you post it. This way is best if you are only posting one or two pictures.

The alternative is to use the uploads link at the bottom of every page which also opens a separate window where you can select the file you want to upload although this time once its uploaded you will have to link the image to your post by using tags without the space around the link, something like:
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads8/yourfile.JPG
This is the best method if you want to attach more images as each picture can be linked separately into the same post and positioned correctly.

New article on US Constitution.

I found some of my essays from a few years ago.
Are they okay if:
a)They were written by a young me 13/14
b) They are in MS Word format?

So long as it's reasonably long, informative and readable and you're not afraid to be embarassed by your younger self :p, I don't see why not...

Lookie here

Just a short one I wrote, I was going to put some of this in the useless facts thread, but it got so long an article was easier

Well, it was less shocking than the one article I was going to write for the Chinese side of the Korean war, and now seemed to have expanded to (projected) 5-6 articles... :crazyeye:

You know... considering how popular the WW2 quiz is, you'd think we'd have a lot more of articles on WW2... :crazyeye: *HINT!*

Methinks I shall perhaps write a series on them :)

Nadir shah, great filibuster, and clash of ironclads done. one on yi sun-sin on the way ( had like 4-5 half done articles, so i'm finishing them )
