Is there some sort of manual for FF ? Like Xienwolf's manual for FfH2 ?
I'd like to give FF a try sometime, but since it is "FfH2 with stuff" it seems even more complex than FfH2, and thus essentially way too complex to just dive in...
Or is the Civiclopledia in FF very much more filled in than in FfH2 ?

Everything which is new should be in the Pedia, and quite a few things which weren't documented yet in FfH have been touched up in the pedia a little bit. I haven't had time to update the FfH manual since like Patch S or so, so a manual for FF will not happen (from me) till at least the middle of summer I imagine.

The FFH civs aren't really changed in FF (except Elohim of course), so you could just pick one FFH civ you are very familiar with and try them out in FF. Good Luck!

Who isn't busy with coding though? 0_o

Vehem's wiki idea was nice.

That would probably work better than a manual written from one person's viewpoint.

Then everyone could contribute. And there would be less work for any one person to do.

I have a bit of an organizational streak, and I'd personally love to help out. but I don't think I'd follow through if I committed to writing a full FF manual.

But I wouldn't mind writing a general overview of one civ, or gathering pictures and info about Archos UUs, etc.
A wiki allows lots of people to contribute here and there, without any big obligations or pressure. It wouldn't be entirely devoid of work for the team, for someone would still have to look over recent changes now and then, but it would be a lot less work than writing a manual.

Now that I found out how to make links in pdf documents:), I would like to make such a manual. I like designing so that would be fun for me. I will make a new thread where I will post the progression. There everybody could tell me what is good and what can be made better.

@WarKirby and everybody

It would be great to get as many flavorful descriptions, arts etc. to make a manual that satisfies this great and excellent mod.

@Xienwolf

I would be thankful for some short tips how you made the absolutley great FFH manual

I used Open Office for the FfH Manual. I hadn't ever used it before, so had to learn how to do all the layout stuff as I went through (many times I started over from scratch halfway through a major section (like units, 6 times or so...) because I ran into something that didn't fit the format I had chosen, or just thought of something that looked nicer in the end. I'm actually contemplating another start from nearly scratch sometime to move to a single-column style since some issues come up with the split column that I use so often right now, and I finally figured out a decent layout method for doing single column work.

Anyway, if you want I can provide the OO file I use for the FfH manual and you can modify from that, but I personally found that having partial information was WORSE than having no information at all because then instead of just looking up how something works you have to compare what is already written with what is in the files stating how it works. But in the end, our trimmed XML style will be the biggest asset, since you won't have to scroll through pages and pages of >0< or >NONE< entries and hope to catch the few >1< entries tucked away in the midst of it all.

I'm transferring an old domain name that I own across to the server we currently use for hosting. Once that transfer is complete (typically upto 72 hours for DNS updates), we'll setup a MediaWiki (same software that runs Wikipedia) that can be filled in by the community. I'm not going to have chance to do much on it myself and I suspect the same is true for the other team members, so if you want to organize the front page/sections and set things up in an easily accessible way, feel free to do so.

Hmm. This could be something I help with when I can't look at anymore tags because my eyes will fall out. :D

I've transferred a domain across and setup a MediaWiki here. There's very little to see as of yet and I had intended to implement some sort of structure before unleashing the community on it - but we'll just have to see how it ends up...

Any content on FF related features is useful - feel free to add and edit as you wish.

Hmm, trying to think of how to structure it.

Perhaps each page on a civ, should first give a general overview of the civ, in gameplay terms. Including a rough description of their UU's and concepts.
then a section of lore detailing them.

Then links to seperate pages each with much more detail, about:
Their Unique Units
General strategies for using the race
Their unique mechanic(s) (spiders for archos, awakened spawning and haunted lands for scions, etc.)

A page listing the differences from the "regular" FfH would be nice. Whatever happened to hidden nationality? has it been removed from this mod?

As far as I can tell, Archos Spiders are well into hidden nationality...So, no, it hasn't been removed.
