[FfH II Art Team Blog]

Sez can you tease us with the new/updated models of Malakim units? :mischief:

This is nothing special in any way, i dont want credits for this. its just some recolouring and attaching new parts, done in a hurry. just to make them look a bit more coherent with my warrior, without spending much time on it.
The real artwork will be done on the recon line, but that will take some time, as we have more important stuff to do first ;)

I wouldnt object if Kael used the EDU arab settler graphics for Malakim settlers, but thats up to him ;)

Hopefully it's an info you can reveal now, but are those scenarios playable during an epic game in the form of quests like in vanilla game or those Ice scenarios are not linked to an epic game and are similar to AoI with a predefined map and units?
Scenarios with unique maps, units, events, victory conditions, stories, etc.
But we'll steal from them to add events or quests to the epic game too.

So, something i am a bit more proud of than those malakim reskins ;) :

just a teaser, might change and gets some effects attached in its final version ;)

you guessed it... it is the Sheaim Mage

The Sheaim Mage seems really......EVIL ;)

btw Sezereth i really love your Clockwork Golem are you going to make new Golem units soon or are there other units which have more priority?

At the moment, there are over 100 tier 1-3 units with vanilla art. Luchuirp already have fairly decent art for most of their golems so I'd say yes there are higher priorities :p

/but that's IMHO

Sezereth, i imagine the Sheim mage more like the eater of Dreams... shadowy and hidden, not neoPunk, Neo Nazi, skinheads. i mean, it works for the lower level units, but i always imagine the upperclass sheim as somewhat sophisticated, and the epitome of dark mages.

just my two scents.

It seems like, recolored, it would make a nice Doviello mage, though.

sincerely,
thomas

I love the punk design for the Sheaim. Its non-traditional, and I think its a great way to display their expanding destruction. In general they are supposed to be becoming less healthy looking, more demonic as they go into the higher tiers.

We have a challenge showing these sorts of things without conflicting with the art design of other civs with as many as we are dealing with. But what seZ does best is design concepts that are broad enough to cover all the units (without them looking like 10 versions of the same guy holding different weapons) and specific enough to be easily recognizable as a member fo that civ.

With this in mind, it might be an idea to eventually redo the Eater of Dreams so he doesn't stick out so much.

Which is one reason that it was probably a good thing conjurers & summoners got the axe. With five slightly different magical robed guys for each civ it might get a bit repetitive ;)

The Sheaim Mage is absolutely superb (much cudos to SZ!), but what are those bright pink scabbards doing on the Sheaim Champions?
I`m assuming they are scabbards...

you are talking about the malakim champion i suppose ;)
and that it is pink is due to my fault of deleting a necessary texture file i didnt know what for it was
like i stated, i just did some recolouring/attaching for those malakims, not much work or passion involved.

Yes sorry the Malakim champion.. phew, thought you`d started to like pink for a moment there.. Next thing we know, Acheron would have a fluffy pink handbag and white stilettos! :mischief:
