small update 30.o7.o8

Finally Stephanos will leave his leading position at Mardi Gras and start terrifying Erebus. I am a bit proud of him, because i think he really turned out well considering his polies and texture and the short creation time (this is again nothing firaxis... he is completely custom)
Here are the 2D wallpapers:

Wow... it looks like he might've had a wee bit too much to drink before leaving that Mardi Gras parade, though.

In all seriousness, though, that's pretty freakin' awesome. I wouldn't have noticed the tokens if Chuggi hadn't pointed them out, but they're a suitably evil touch on a thoroughly awesome creation. Beautiful work, and I'm looking forward to Yersinia. I can't imagine what sort of fun you'll have with him...

EDIT: I've figured out why he's so darn scary! He reminds me of the traumatizingly horrifying mask-faced Burger King! Except even more terrifying! (And that's saying something...)

EDIT 2: Since Cyther set the precedent...
(I forget how small 4 kb is, and how bad I am with fiddling with images...)

excelent yet again seZ, you once again dashed my current image of the personification of war and conquoring, though i cant help but feel a little blood would go a long way :p but thats the stereotype yet again

Thats great, you know I have to have a little fun with that:

Well, he's no Ars, but its pretty good.

He does seem a bit too light or bright to me. Obviously his horse should be white, but he doesn't really seem evil enough, at least when you don't look at his face. I think I'd probably make his armor a little darker and make his red clothes darker and purpler.

On the other hand, if he, like the first horseman in revelation, is taken to be a false savior (antichrist) then maybe he shouldn't look evil at all.

Is his tongue always out like that? It could be very nice if it flicker out from time to time, but riding around with his tongue out is just strange. It could also be cool if he had a very calm and kind looking face most of the time, which was animated to turn to that crazy evil face every once in a while.

I'm not sure what I think of the crown or his weapon. They look pretty cool, but are not really appropriate if you want his to match the the first Horseman in Revelation. The name Stephanos and the type of crown he is described as wearing in Revelation is definitely not the type of crown your model is wearing. To be more appropriate, it should probably be a Laural Wreath. Also, the weapon he uses should be a Bow--without arrows. It is usually believed that this symbolizes a tough but non-violent political rise to power. Of course, his popup's text seems to imply that Erebus's First Horseman isn't really like that.

If we do convince you to give him a bow, the Yersinia needs to carry a set of scales.

I too had overlooked the little people being hanged from the horse. Nice touch

I like him as bright and showy as he is. It's one thing to see a skeleton riding around killing people, but to see a decked out guy with a foot long tough goes way beyond it. I also like how the horsemen progress to be less and less human. I don't feel that it has to stick strictly with the Revelations version, this is Erebus after all.

Yea, I had the image of a corrupted King, of a false saviour. From far away he should look like a normal bright king, but coming closer you can see that his decoration is actually hanged men and manacles,...
His tong and uberbig mouth is supposed to show his false promises and dangerous words. It is actually a little bit animated, but I dont animate, i simply rig, which means, some tricks are possible, but nothing like a transition from a nice to a screaming face with this set of animations.
His scepter is supposed to symbolize his tight rule over erebus (i considered it being a sphere in that case).
I have to admit.... i simply forgot the bow. (wanted to attach it to his horse)
But it is Erebus, we are not here to copy old myths one to one. Just enough to make things easier to understand ;)

Well I was going to comment on that those creepy little hanged men, but it looks like that its already been mentioned. I just have to say Blimey! All that in just a couple of days, you should be proud of yourself Sez.

On a completely unrelated note, C. Roland when are you going to come back to FFH? Come back to us, we have cookies!

C.Roland is also supplying a new unit with custom animations in 0.33 (his fidget animation is great!). 0.33 is going to be a great version for new art.

Can't Wait!!!!! Could you go ahead and give us the changelog now instead of the next week :p

I need one more weekend. The changelog will be posted on August 4th (which is still earlier than usual).

Ooh new animations! :D Exciting stuff, I hope C. Roland can become our new animation guy. I'm looking forward to seeing them in action. :)

actually Roland only did the Model and texture (in Zbrush, awesome tool!).
Refar was the one animating it, he is great in that! hopefully we can win him for some more units in FfH (everyone send him a pm to convince him doing some cool animations for us in the future :D )

Like Sez have said, the animation are made by Refar. I've worked with him for some LHs and I asked his help for a animation of a unit that I have made. Since Ploeper is too busy right now, It would be fun if he can helps us again for animations. I'll try to make some LH for Fury Road mod in exchange of some other animation in the future for FFH. I still have a Lamia to anim and I'm reworking her, so this might be a good thing to animate.

As for my currunt project, like Sez have said, I used ZBrush for modeling and generating normal map for texture baking. Because I'am not a texturing god like Sez, I prefer to sculpt high resolution mesh in Zbrush and baked it into a texture after. Here's a little preview of the new guy (well, if we can call it a guy). This is the high resolution shot (around 4 milions polys). I've created a normal map from him that I will bake on his texture. A lots of details will be, of course, lost, but the unit should still look like this if the baking is made correctly. And with Refar's anim, the units have a lot more life.
