FFH NES III: The Expanse

Dibenkai looked up at the faint sun rising after the long night. The events of the night had not surprised him, only confirmed a belief that was already part of his very universe: Lugus was not the all-powerful deity that the Shedu claimed. Night could drown out even the light of Lugus.

He sifted a handful of sand through his fingers. Even here, in the desert lands, Lugus was not the one in charge. He knew that. He knew that the Angel he served was the one that held power over all of the land and the deserts in particular. He got up and rose into his saddle. Now, they only had to make this clear to the rest of the world.

is that why the eastern expanse is being delayed so long?

Update 0, Part II

In the days leading up to the festival of the Harvest Moon and the Long Night new organizations have come together which have caused a stir as the locals have discuss the daily news in the marketplaces:

The Mens Infinitas are a cloistered organization of magic users who have taken residence in the Nephilim city of Dahlia. Recently their leadership has changed, and a mysterious man by the name of Aulus Vindex has changed the organization’s closed door policy and is willing to accept young students willing to learn the ways of magic. The Nephilim have found that a group of magic users if loyal could prove to be a boon to their nation, or could turn out to be worshippers of false gods and a threat. The Mens Infinitas claim to despise the childish conflicts of the gods, but until these magic users gain a reputation for themselves they will be looked upon with suspicion.

In the Na’am Forest twenty miles north of the Nephilim city of Dalia dwells the House of Carlinn. Immigrants from a distant land, these elven nobles have made their home among the thick cluster of oaks that grow so close together that the foliage blocks out much of the sun. It in these forests that other Nephilim country folk make their home and their living as loggers. These country folk had never spoken with the elven nobles, usually staying far away from House Carlinn’s area of the forest. It remains to be seen how long these elves will tolerate the felling of so many trees so close to their home. On another note, something strange that was noted by the resident loggers was during the Long Night, when a pair of brothers out drinking at the edge of the forest noticed the hoard of ghosts in their travels avoided going into the forest.

Also in Nephilim lands a group of mercenaries known as the Forsaken Garrison has come together, created by disgruntled veteran soldiers who have found that they longer have a place among the armies of the nation’s of the Expanse. They specialize in combat, but are looking for anyone with useful skills. Members of the Forsaken Garrison can be found in taverns throughout the Sunken Valley, providing a ready means for potential employers to get in touch with these mercenaries. They have mostly dealt with small scale contracts so far, and it seems unlikely the righteous Nephilim would have the need to employ mercenaries. Though with a war going on yesterday’s victor could become tomorrow’s loser, and it is likely they will find plenty of opportunity to ply their trade.

However, the talk of the town up until the Long Night was the grand opening of the new start up business Corpse Co. They claim to be able to take corpses and create mindless automatons out of them. Orders have been coming in, but can they produce? And how will the parliament tolerate undead walking about the streets? At the moment they’ve been too busy focusing on the war to deal with such small things as zombie butlers, but if they become popular the Nephilim government may make some time to scrutinize these merchants.

Meanwhile in Equos lands, rumors abound of a group of exiles who somehow can turn the sand into water. These exiles are known as the Dib’Mahal, and are said to have turned away from the Great Mother to worship the god of the seas. It is also said that these exiles sneak into Equos cities at night and eat sleeping children. As the rumors have spread, it became a staple of the culture as mothers would warn rebellious children that if they don’t behave, the Dib’Mahal will get them! The truth is that no one really knows the truth about these Dib’Mahal, as they are so rarely encountered they are sometimes believed to be a myth.

Tomorrow or Wednesday, I’m going to make a couple of alterations to the rules and fill in some missing sections so that way spending starting resources won’t be such a shot in the dark. When I’m finished I’ll ask you to respend ur starting resources and submit orders. Depending on how busy my schedule is Update 1 may be this upcoming weekend or the next after that.

I LOVE corpse co. i laughed so much tyrs!

EDIT: my daughter's second birthday is coming up, can you help me?

Indeed, nice one Tyrs ^_^

And woo the update!

Haha, I knew watching all those zombie flicks would be useful someday.

Immac, I believe this calls for zombie jugglers. Or maybe the return of a deceased pet! Mr. Jingles can finally come back from mouse-ville!

Oh, and yay update! Stats?

beforewe get to that I need email addresses from tyrs and strategos. Also, considering that I'm gving u new information on the innovations, in that first tier innos will cost anywhere from 50-100 rp, I'm allowing a one time respend of points. First, you tell me how many general points u want to spend on rp, then I'll reveal the the techs that are discovered, then u r free
To spend the rest of ur general points. This way u'll have a more informed spenditure of points. Then I'll send out stats.

I sent my email... twice... oh well, third time i the charm?

I thought changes to the spending could happen after the tech reveal? That was the point right, so we knew what to pay for?

Yeah, I meant rp spending. I want to get up the revealed techs tonight or tomorrow so I'm putting a limit so I won't have to wait forever to get responses. So if I don't get info on how many general points each of u are spending to get rp immediately falling back on what u originally gave me. Don't worry tho, tyrs, I got ur respend

I'm actually quite good with my original orders, but you'll send the info about the discovered techs anyway, right?

Just one note (didn't notice this before) - there's no 's' on the end of Infinita (and it's singular).

no their getting posted publicly. I'm taking out private innos. I'll edit them into the update and post when I do that, then put in the innovation, units, techniques, and buildings sections on the first page. Then when that's done you'll spend the rest of ur starting resources or let me know that ur fine with the ones already sent. Then in a few days I'll send out stats, you'll send me orders, and I'll post update 1.

Bump. It would be nice to see some life in the thread...
