FfH2 0.33 Bug Thread

I see.. I thought I was actually helping, sorry guys. :D I promise that from now on I'll post bugs only in the FF thread, since I play FF. :)
 
I don't know exactly what I was looking for but I went searching through the xml and python for anything strange related to flames and the only thing I could find was in featuresinfo. Scrub is defined as flammable but can only appear on desert. Could be an issue there.
 
Try the following things to troubleshoot the Flames CtD problem. Make the following changes to your "../Fall from Heaven 2 033/Asstes/CML/GlobalDefinesAlt.xml" file one at a time and tell me at which step your crahses stop:

1. Change the FLAMES_SPREAD_CHANCE from 20 to 0.

if its still crashing:

2. Change the FLAMES_EXPIRE_CHANCE from 20 to 0.

if its still crashing:

3. Change the FLAMES_EXPIRE_CHANCE from 0 to 100.

Let me know how it turns out.


Thank you!!! The did the trick I still had 2 CTD over about 40 turns, but not the one every four turns. I only changed 1 and 2. With one I still got more CTDs but with 2 changed I got what I reported.... Got a domination victory by the way :D :goodjob:

Edit: Note the save game on http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=7190821&postcount=535 a few pages ago. That was the one I was able to finish...
 
Pretty weird results from you and Gekko. That value controls the chance flames will go out on a non-burning sands tile. With it set at 0 the flames will never go out. So its not the graphics of the flames, Vista (or some vista component) really doesnt like switching them around.

Granted normal Civ4 doesnt juggle features like we do. But none of this is anything to new. The vanilla game allows you to spawn new features (forest spread) and remove them (chopping). Just not at the level we do. I'll have to think about it.
 
48. Units that can see invisible can see units hidden by Nox Noctis.

This still doesn't seem to be working. Just played a game against good ol' Noxy, and an enemy had it, but my hawks were unable to detect his units.
 
Continueing my "Patch E Game" with Patch F and I can't cast Hope anymore in cities, which I did and could before I upgraded to the newest patch.
 
According to the tool tip of loyality it prevents units from changing to the enemy.
Does it counter Domination completly? Because I just dominated 2 Taskmasters with Loyality.
 
What is the mind 1 spell? I cant cast it anymore, its greyed out when my adepts are in the cities where they should be able to cast it.

Please, can you try that :

1 _ Do the same but with just only 2 and check if you get about the same number of CtD that you get with 1 and 2.

2 _ Restore the config that is the best (1 or nothing) and try the dll attached. (restore FLAMES_EXPIRE_CHANCE to 20)

Edit : file removed, i will try to make some different dll to check some different tests and post them.

For the 1 probably, but the dll will not work with FF. However it's better to check with FfH without changes. Because any change may prevent or alter the reason of the bug.

I tried doing what you said, which means that the one and only change I made to the xml was changing flames_expire_chance to 0. and that was enough to fix the CTDs. so it seems like Vista has a problem with flames expiring, probably from no-yield tiles like ice and desert. I'm not sure about deserts, but somebody mentioned them and they do have in common with ice that they are no-yield tiles. I'm sure about the ice, cuz deleting flames on ice in the worldbuilder DID solve the CTD. for one turn only, though. then they reappear alongside with the dreaded CTD. that's really strange. Damn you, Vista! nobody likes you! :lol:

It sounds almost like the problem isn't so much the flames expiring, as the Burnt Forest trying to be created on invalid terrain. Haven't had any issues myself though so I don't know.
 
burnt forest on invalid terrain. whoa. that makes sense to me, that COULD be the issue. but it's probably more compicated than that, otherwise I think it should crash on XP too.
 
For those having flames error try putting your vlaues back to normal (20 spread and expire chance) and using the attached DLL.
