FfH2 0.34 Cosmetic Issues

Red blob in the barb city.

PS
Wouldn't that be good to have a list of already reported "cosmetic" issues, just as xienwolf's in the bug thread? I am aware that cosmetic bugs aren't the most hot bugs to hunt but could be good so we don't post issues over and over.

Kind of belongs in here I guess:

Can you maybe decrease the cloud effect around Auric?
It becomes rather annoying.
The clouds lag and occlude parts of the map, if you are nearby, which is the case, when you wander arround with a stack including Auric.

I was wondering is it possible to return AC graphics to an old style (star with number in center on top right of the screen). If it can be done by changing some configs I'm kindly ask for a tip.

After taking the Timor Mask icon the unit promotion window shows a staff icon rather than the mask. The Civlopedia entry has a staff icon rather than the mask icon also.

Green TXT_KEY_MESSAGE_LAIR_EMPTY message when opening my second treasure chest.

Some stuff I encountered in the game text XML:

TXT_KEY_CIV_BALSERAPHS_SHORT_DESC
Spanish tags just hold three spaces instead of "Balseraphs".

TXT_KEY_CIV_BANNOR_PEDIA
"ErebC756C741C712C744us" found in the text.

TXT_KEY_CIV_KURIOTATES_PEDIA
"[PARAGRAPG:1]" (the first in the text) instead of "[PARAGRAPH:1]".

TXT_KEY_EVENT_MURDERED_WIFE_4 and TXT_KEY_EVENT_WEREWOLF_3
Spanish text has ">" at the beginning (by accident, I guess).

TXT_KEY_MEMORY_SOMNIUM
The tag has a quotation mark at the end.

TXT_KEY_SPELL_PILLAR_OF_FIRE_PEDIA
French tags just hold a couple of spaces instead of the actual (English) text.

TXT_KEY_UNIT_ROSIER_PEDIA
"behindC3505C3500C3496C3499C3506" found in the text.

A cosmetic request:

Would it be possible to have trait details pop-up on a mouse-over when selecting a new trait for an Adaptive civ? I sometimes forget everything each one affects.

Seconded! Or thirded. I'm always trying to find an online reference (or just getting lazy and going for "financial" because money is usually good)

I too brought this up some time ago (for 0.33, IIRC) and would still like to see it ingame. :D

When Ilians cast their world spell therer is no message about it. It is weird when all your productions is stoped, your incomes are cut, and you don`t know what happened.

Above the score list is a counter of how long your production will be stopped for, that should work as a pretty good indicator...

Battlemaster startegy tip (on mouseover in the build orders menu) has "roll" where it should say "role".

I am using Foxit Reader to view the manual. Unlike Adobe, it doesn’t hang my system or try to get me to install malware. It does have some problems (e.g., the down arrow key or mouse wheel scrolls down from the top of page 5 to the bottom of page 5 to the top of page... 4).
It has no internal spell-check nor any way to export to a format that I can spell-check, so this list was amassed entirely by eye. I am mostly not reporting revisions from FfH .33 to .34, dead links, missing data, grammatical errors, oddly-arranged and -punctuated sentences or Inconsistent Capitalization. I had intended to note some missing words I ran across (er... didn’t) when I was reading up on civ strategies, but can’t find them now I’m looking.

First, a complaint about readability. I have a 21" monitor running at 1280x1024. “Fit Page” (87%) gives me an onscreen image that’s almost exactly 8½ x 11". It’s too hard to read the colored text at that level of magnification and I expect it’s worse for people without 20/20 vision. In particular, there are three colors - a fluorescent light green, a fluorescent light blue and a light tan - which are very nearly the same brightness as the background. This is basic bad design; please use dark colors that contrast with the background. Also, your lines are over 120 characters long. Books, blogs, mags, newspapers - they all run from a little over 60 to a little under 40 characters wide because that format is easier to read. Please use columns.

P.S. I started with the manual because it’s better-spelled and easier to read than the Civilopedia (all those itty bitty sub-panes). (Better-punctuated or -capitalized...not so much.) I might check Hints next - any preferences? Wait! -Guilds!

P.P.S. Fawns are baby deer - wee spindly spotted things.
Fauns are goat-men; minor woods deities.
The Fonz is a “cool” TV character.
Now, look at what FfH calls a Fawn. Which is it?

P3.S. Nay?

“The end is...”

Animals stop spawning if their are a certain amount of cities on the map.

Quote from Kael in the bug thread, but this should probably be in the manual and the civilopedia somewhere.

We typically don't document base Civ4 functionality, we have enough work just documenting our stuff. :)

:) Sorry. I guess that since animals are so trivial in vanilla, it's not an issue that they stop spawning.

The text description for the Bane Divine ritual in the Civilopedia states that all disciple units are turned into level 1 prophets. However there is no prophet entry in the Civilopedia.

Mouseover (and civilopedia) for the Heal spell says that it heals all units in the tile. It appears to only heal living units. Tested with Sphener who can heal other units but not himself.

Edit: Sheaim appear to get no benefit from the Rage technology or the Bear Totem building but they can still build it.
