FfH2 Bug Thread

Report a bug (if you take it as a bug)
Key words: blood of phoenix, great people, golden age.

After build Blood of the Phoenix, your great people will have Immortal promotions.
Consume them to trigger a golden age, the algorithm will consider them killed, then they will revive!

That means, with the help of Blood of Pheonix, we can make use of GPs twice. If it's not considered as a bug, then it will be a good use of Blood of Pheonix.

thats no bug it works as designed

Latest verison of FfH, patch n, WinXP, SP2. Game crashes to desktop when you finish the turn (files 1 and 2). Great mod for playing, maybe the best, in my opinion, but why it has so many bugs?! You have a lot of time to get rid of them.

Could you, please, give me also an advice where I can download unversal debug tool to catch similar bugs by myself?

Can you send a save file that isn't zipped? If you do I'll take a look and see if I can figure out why it crashed,

Best wishes,

Breunor

algol1 the best debug tool is to run a debug build of the DLL. If you don't know how to compile forget about it, as some people who do haven't managed to set up a debug build.

If you know how to compile I suggest using Visual C++ with this makefile. You will also need Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit 2003 and Microsoft Platform SDK. It was so long ago I got them I don't remember where I did.

Citadel of light does not produce fireballs.

Quite some time ago its functionality was changed to causing a weaker version of Pillar of Fire instead of summoning a fireball. The pedia or mouseovers may need updating, but it is probably working as intended.

I don't know if the FFH DLL has .cpp or .h files, but if it doesn't, I'd recommend using the makefile linked to in the modiki for now; the makefile recommended in this thread is still new, potentially with bugs that need to be worked out, and there are no tutorials as of yet for setting up the DLL around it (and the process seems to be different for every person).

I love that makefile. So very much. 300% faster for me. I actually timed it. :mischief:

All C++ projects use .cpp and .h; Those are the standard file endings.

As for setting up the DLL around it... The only differences between the old tutorial and the new method is the naming.

Release instead of Final_Release, Release_clean / Debug_clean instead of clean_Final_Release / clean_Debug. That should be it. I know I had to split a file into two, as it was too big for the new makefile to generate a debug dll... But that's the only extra step I had, and I doubt it would be needed in FfH.

I have a single player game (Erebus, Huge, Turn 376) played as the Infernals. If I end turn it crashes every time now. Can I send the save file to someone to look at? If so, to whom and where?

Cheers

It's best to simply attach it to a post on this forum thread. Use the attach button (the paper clip icon) and search for where the file is save. Upload it, and then send the message just like your last one. I'll try to look at it when I get a chance.

I've started Against the Grey (as Malakim) twice, and both times the game spins forever on Turn *2* (UI stays active, but lots of CPU and the cursor stays on the globe spinner indefinitely). Seems a bit strange to me, can someone take a look?

we've been trying, unsuccessfully to put together a PBEM game without using one of the modmods...any words of wisdom or pointers?

Sorry, I can't load the game. I get a 'failure to uncompress data' error of some sort.

Is this patch n?

Try this. Bug cause in the spoiler text.

Spoiler :
It was caused by a hidden Sidar horseman south of Zarla. Unfortunately, taking away the hidden promotion won't stop the WoC. I deleted the unit.

I thought I was on the latest patch (n). I can download it and install it again but I'd like to verify what version I have.

How do I tell what version/patch I have?

Open the file "[path]\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Fall from Heaven 2\Readme 041.rtf" (where [path] is the path to your install of Civ IV). The second line of text will state the version you have installed.
