FfH2 Bug Thread

OK. I had to delete everything. The entire Firaxis folder. And reload everything from scratch. I reinstalled 4 and BtS from the disks. Then downloaded 3.19 and installed. Then downloaded FFH2 fresh and installed, and then the latest patch from the start of this thread.

And now I can't load a saved game at all. The game crashes the moment I try to. I need to start from scratch. And I don't know where to start. Any advice?

>.> Does anyone but me hate how when you choose "Go to latest unread post" this forum ignores the possibility of second pages?

@Ambreville:

Tholal posted a fix to that problem a while ago. You can find a link to it in this thread.

Thanks! Just installed it. I'll try it at the first opportunity. At this point, there is very little at all that's wrong with FFH. It remains my fav' among civ mods. :goodjob:

Start up a new game of FfH2, save it immediately, and then exit back to Windows. Reload FfH2, and try to load the game you just saved. If this crashes, then something has probably gone wrong with your reinstallation of Civ 4 or FfH2. Try this save-and-reload process with Civ 4, and if that works then FfH2 may be the problem; if not, then the problem may be in Civ 4 itself. (Other possibilities would be hardware failure or pernicious software such as a virus.)

If you are able to load a newly created saved game in FfH2 then the problem with your other saved games is probably either A) the installed version of FfH2 that created them was different than the version you have currently installed (note that modmods or custom edits would be a factor here, and would have to be reapplied exactly as before), or B) the installation of FfH2 that created them was already corrupted in some way and saved invalid or corrupted saved games.

If A is the cause, then you could resolve that problem by reinstalling the version of FfH2 you had installed previously. If B is the cause, then you'll need to just let those games go and move on to new games (which also works if A is the cause and you don't care to reinstall or you don't recall exactly which other version you were using).

I think my problem is a failed video card. That PC is entirely unusable at this point until I get some replacement parts.

I was playing as Elohim and founded AV in Basium's city (and yes, I was playing on Warlord).

whats the deal with patch "0"

As you can see in the first post of this thread, patches fix a variety of bugs and other issues. Once you've installed the main mod, download and install patch "o" -- patches are cumulative, so patch "o" includes all the fixes from patch "a" onwards.

Kael never released patch "p", so once you've installed patch "o," you'll need to install the unofficial patch p from this thread.

i heard disabling Archer's ranged bombardment attack reduced or eliminated the OOS, ive also heard that you need to run more naval AI mod and Wildmana mod to eliminate OOS, ?

Anyone know what works for them?

I can't seem to get wildmana mod as it has been removed does master of mana work online ?

Well, more Naval AI mod is a patch only for FFH2 patch O ... it is not compatable with Rife or other Modmods

alright i got no problem playing Naval AI.

I'm just curious tho I heard wildmana mod merged to master of mana mod and was just wondering if anyone knows if master of mana has any OSS issues when playing online every few turns 100 into the game.

MoM has OOS

I'm on #erebus

I posted a response in that thread. I hope it helps.

I built the rites of oghma twice in different games now, and each time I got a lot of messages about "new ressource found", but by the time I could act there were no actual new mana sources.

I traced where they should be the second time from the green markers on the minimap and despite the event markers still being there, there was no mana source there. So I suspect it either only claims to have created mana sources without actually doing so, or it creates them but they are removed again immediately.

The problem might also be with existing improvements, the event markers I was able to trace all pointed to tiles where I (or some other player) already had a farm/mine/whatnot.

FFH version is 0.41

/edit: BTS Civ version 3.1.9.0 in case this matters

There should also be a letter attached to your FfH2 version number. For example, the latest version of the mod is 0.41o.

If you do have the latest version, and you have a save of a game from shortly before you completed the Rites, then I or someone else can load it up and try to see what is going on. I've completed Rites of Oghma and had mana appear before - but not in the latest version, so it's possible this could be a new bug.
