FfH2 Bug Thread

One player (#4, Hannah) has one more gold than for the other player. That's the only difference. I don't know how that could happen. Given that we didn't get an OOS it could be that one of your FfH 2 copies is somehow different than the other, try reinstalling?

*edit* Or try loading the Lung Drago AD-0148 oos.CivBeyondSwordSave save, just end the turn a few times doing nothing. That's what we did. If you don't get OOS then it's something you did which we did not and I'll need to know what :p

I reinstalled the game and we were able to get past this point. We do get an OOS from time to time, but we can continue by saving it and rehosting.

My suspicion is that for whatever reason, the BTS installer didn't patch Civ4 to 1.74 which as I recall is supossed to do. I patched to 1.74 manually and it worked.
Thanks for your assistance :)

The clan AI correctly moves Rantine and a few friends to take over barbarian cities. However it doesn't seem to realise that his work is done and never moves him back to do usual hero work. He might also get confused by other nations taking the barbarian city before he gets there. Once Rantine is in a former barbarian city he typically never leaves it again, unless he can see another barbarian city to roost in.

I played the Infernals from AC ~25 to AC 100 :D and never saw hell terrain that I didn't add myself via Worldbuilder. I have a couple modmods installed, the Naval AI one and the graphics one that changes the default civiliazations' buildings, so maybe one of them is the culprit. I'll try again with a fresh install of FfH2 and see what happens.

Found out that the issues I was having were caused by installing the BTS Better AI patch over the main BTS Assets folder and then running FFH2 with the More Naval AI patch. Apparently they don't play nice together. :) Installed the BTS Better AI patch as a separate mod and now FFH2 + More Naval AI works fine.

I'm currently playing a game where every time it hits turn 404, it crashes. I'm playing as the Amurites on deity with a few World Builder cheats to help me along (don't hate, I'm having fun playing like this). I'm using the latest patch, and I don't know what's happening.

Ok, there are two problems here. First, I'm getting a WoC, which I can probably clear. Note that it isn't easy, it is a very big file and you have 'complete kills' on which is bad for my style of debugging.

However, after I clear the WoC, and I get a next turn, and try to load the game, I get a memory allocation error of some kind. I don't know if that would continue if I played, and I don't know why I can load the file but I can't reload it after I played the turn.

So please be specific, what error are you getting and can you describe the sequence? I've made good progress in the WoC so I can probably clear that if necessary, but I wanted to make sure I tackling the right problem!

Best wishes,

I click enter for the next turn, so it goes from turn 403 to 404, and after a bit of waiting (probably as long as it would usually take for it to get to the next turn; a couple of minutes or so) it minimises, and I get a "Civ IV has stopped responding" error, and it closes as soon as I close that window.

Thanks for the help, by the way. I was really into this game before it started giving me issues.

Ok, I'm NOT getting that. I can try to see if I fix the WoC. Hmm, maybe the WoC eventually is closed by the operating system if you let it run enough.

I'll try to fix the WoC. This will, unfortunately, take a little time, you have a VERY big file.

Ok, this file seems to fix the problem:

Unfortunately, your file crashes if I load it 'in game'. If I first load FfH, then load your file, I can play; but if I load it once a game is in progress, it gets a memory allocation error. My fixed file has that same characteristic, so you also may have to load it when first loading FfH itself.

I cleared the discussed bug by removing the Clan of Embers city Renegade Hill. A 'better' fix would remove as few units in the city as possible. Unfortunately, your file is so big that it takes about 20 minutes to do a test (load FfH, load the game, load the worldbuilder, delete some units, close the worldbuilder, run the game, it takes about 5 minutes even if it doesn't crash and longer if it does.)

So, if you want to work on it more, there are 8 units in Renegade Hill. You can try deleting combinations to see which is causing the problem.

Best wishes,

Thanks for the help man, I got my game working again. I really appreciate it! I'm not going to fiddle around with deleting the units, but I'm lazy like that. I figure I can live with them having a missing city. We'll just write it off to some supernatural event.

Thank you Breunor for being so helpful.
I have no problem with my games, and just browse this thread casually (trying to hunt down anything giving a clue to FFH stand-alone), and it is very nice to know that there is an active support in case of...
You are like a bullet proof jacket: a bit of peace of mind (I am simply hoping that no one will aim at the head !!!)

jprc,

Wow, thanks, I appreciate it!

Xentex,

Yes, the problem here is with the main Infernal army one square NW of Dis; there are something like 300! units here, some REALLY STRONG units.

I'm not sure if the problem is that the army is so big that it is just taking the computer very long to work through it, or if there is a 'real' bug. If you eliminate that stack you get to the next turn is a second.

Unfortunately, you may want to restart anyway. Your forces could never defeat that army (although I guess you could trick your way into Dis).

Best wishes,

Breunor

Thanks for looking - when I played this scenario once before there was a huge (though not 300!) size army then, too - I won by luring them far enough away to alpha strike Dis before they could get back the next turn.

Seems like there's something wrong with this map that's allowing the infernals to generate these huge armies - they're not defeating units and with one city I don't see how they can afford them, either...

Doesn't crash (or WoC) for me, so hopefully fixed in patch o.

I'm playing a game as the Luchuirp on Warlord, and I can't build The Mithril Golem. I know I have all the prereqs. I researched Mithril Working, founded Runes of Kilmorph, am trying to build it in my Holy City, and I founded a city right on top of some mithril, and the holy city city screen says I have 1 mithril. No one else could have made it already since no one else has the holy city for RoK. Is there some cap on how many "World Unit"s you can have, since I already have Bambur, Barnaxus, and that werewolf guy (Baron Duir something?)? Nonetheless, an option to build the Golem won't show up on the city screen, or the "What would you like to build?" popup.

Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: And I'm not sure which patch I have, I downloaded this just about a week ago.

Edit 2: Nevermind, the FAQ says that the AC needs to be high for the Golem to be created. I think that should be better established, as I don't think it says that anywhere.

The popup that appears on-mouseover of the Mithril Golem's icon in the tech tree and in the 'pedia Heroes page states that it "Requires an Armageddon Count of +70 or higher". Unfortunately, the 'pedia entry itself does not state this limitation.

Report a bug (if you take it as a bug)
Key words: blood of phoenix, great people, golden age.

After build Blood of the Phoenix, your great people will have Immortal promotions.
Consume them to trigger a golden age, the algorithm will consider them killed, then they will revive!

That means, with the help of Blood of Pheonix, we can make use of GPs twice. If it's not considered as a bug, then it will be a good use of Blood of Pheonix.
