Final Earth Map

Final Earth Map 2016-10-05

Version 1.29

Loaded on old saved game set in the 1920s and in the Modern age. Saved it to see if the time between moves had improved. There was no noticible difference.

I have a very low spec machine 400 Mz Celerion, 128 MB ram, win 98. It took 60 minutes.

No - I did not sit watching the screen I was doing other work and was listing for music changes to let me know whwn a pop-up screen occurred.

can i please use this world map to create a cold war crisis scenario?

Hey everyone,

I'm the one who created the map. I've done it a long time ago now. I don't play to Civ3 since my computer has crashed. I just come here to say that if you want to change the map, if you want to do a scenario or anything else, you can use the map. It's a total freeware : free to change, free to use, free.

Of course, I would only want that in the scenario it's written somewhere it's based on that map.

Who knows, maybe one day I'll get another computer, and I would be very happy to see a WW2 or a Cold War scenario based on that map.

By the way, I'm Marla Singer. I've just lost my password and since my computer has crashed, I had to create another knickname to be allowed to post that message.

 Did you move? I always thought Marla lived in France.

The other part I'm confused about is when I read the previous posts from Frozen_Lava (from your profile).

Marla has been a bit short on her commentary.

Actually, I'm a friend of Marla. I live in Paris, France, but I'm belgian. Marla made me discover Civ3. She told me about her map and Civfanatics. I've decided to create my own ID to support Marla... saying her map was beautiful and everything... but I've been fastly bored about that tricky game (to make the anynonimous enthousiast).

She was at home yesterday and we talked about the map. That's how we got the idea to connect to the forum. Marla (well her real name is Olivia), was really happy to see how many people have posted messages to her link... and she felt a bit bad to not answer anymore.

That's why she has sent her message.

Has anyone else had this problem???
I started the game map as the Germans, and built Berlin, when I built a settler the city that it tried to build was called Berlin. This means that I have to type in a name for every city I build. I've tried this with every civ in the game, and it only happens with the Germans.

While this isn't a life threatening type problem, it's annoying as hell. Anyone out there every had this prob, and if so, how do I fix it?

Did you try to add any names to the Germans?

I had that problem with a mod that I did, and the problem was that city name was junked up somehow.

I didn't do anything to it. I loaded the mod, picked Germans, and the second city I built it wanted to call Berlin. Like I said, not game ending bad, but really annoying...

Version 1.29f

I've just uploaded the version 1.29f of the map. It's now adapted to the version 1.29f of Civ3. Thus, the correct starting locations are automatics. Moreover, we can't build anymore cities on tundra and on desert. That will limit a bit the expansion of the computer in Siberia. I had to remove forest in the North of Russia and Canada cause the computer were still able to build cities on tundra if there was forest on it.

You can still build colonies on tundra and desert to get the ressources.

I've done some tests and it looks good. There's still a miscellaneous of civilization in Eastern Russia, but it's less awful than before.

I apologize to not be here anymore. I'm sorry that I took so much time to make the change for 1.29f. You can still tell me what you think about that map... I may change things since the version 1.29f gives to us huge opportunities to make the map better.

Hey, before I start a big game again on this map, I was wondering if the computer still doesn't declare war on itself? If it does, that'd be awesome, but yeah, whats the current word on that?

Thanx for your support Houman. :)

I'm trying to use the new abilities of the 1.29f version to improve a bit the map. Aexsar has talked about the aggresiveness of the AI. I'm testing if a version where they are all as aggressive as zulus and germans would be good. For instance, I'm the chinese : the indians and japanese have declared me war !

It looks like a good idea to remove the forest of the tundra. It's sad cause the map looks less realistic this way but the game become a lot more funnier.

I'll name the barbarian villages as what they should be. For exemple, the barbarian village located in Madrid is a spanish village. I'll try to do it the same everywhere.

If you have any suggestions, tell me, I would be pleased to help you.

Hi Marla,

My first suggestion is to make the map PTW-compatible. :) I think many wish play also the new Civs with their startlocations.

The next point is the speed of Science in ancient. Somehow it is very slow. AI has much more Science with much smaller cities than I have. They build much more faster wonders. Maybe I do something wrong. Is it better to have more cities with smaller population?

greetings
Houman
