Final Fantasy Mod Progress Thread, Part III

Well, I'll have to check the original Cursor size, but I'd say that the top one would probably be the best one....

Erm, sorry about the lack of interface graphics, but I happened to get to the mall where I eat at after school, and was able to catch the 7:30 showing of Iron Man, so I just got back.

I did, however, knock up a quick modification to the Great Books.txt (the one that pops up when they have "So-and-So has just completed his great history of the world" thing).

Here's the "Great Authors" I've decided to include:

Maechen
Sarda the Sage
Edward the Spoony Bard
Headmaster Cid
Dr. Gast
Professor Hojo
Bugenhagen
Tellah
Strago
Matoya the Witch
Gran Kiltias Anastasis

Sarda ^_^

Is Iron man any good? I became somewhat sceptic after the majestic screw ups of Hulk and Spiderman 3 (and no, I`m not complaining thats its too emo, any Spidey fan won`t be bothered by that, but I hate how they nerfed both the character of Venom and the time dedicated to him in the movie).. The trailers for IM are awesome, I hope the movie is too..

Thought this was a post for Final fantasy mod....
Anyway, good work on the mod buddy, hope to see it soon!
Hmm.... wonder if I can put it on my civ4?

@ Storm: Iron man kicks ass!! It, in some ways, kinda reminds me of some of the older James Bond movies, with all the toungue-in-cheek humor and crazy gadgets (there's this one part where Tony's on the second test of the thrusters for his suit, and he's giving orders to his robot lab assistants and he says, "6, you're on fire safety again, but if you douse me when I'm not actually on fire this time, I'm donating you to City College!" )

Hikaro, I found out that in the blitzball unit's attack the ball flies a little further than it is supposed to. I didn't see it during sound testing because I let him attack from the east, and it is almost not noticable in that direction.I am rendering the updated attack now and I will add it to the .rar

So this is to let you know that you should redownload the unit.

note that the ONLY thing that will change is the BPAt.flc file, so...

EDIT: done :).

No Problemo....

BTW, I've attached the WIP interface graphics for anyone who would like a stab at finishing them up (All the Advisor screens as well as the Demographics, Space Race and Wonders windows as well... I need the cursor, minimap/turn thing, Terrain info window, Victory Status screens, Civilopedia windows, Wonder splash popup and the other misc interface graphics to be done).

Also, I'm kind of surprised that Blue Monkey hasn't created a joke wonder splash for this mod by now.

Ok, for those who are interested, here's the alignment-specific military SW...

Top Left is the Adventurer's Guild Hall, Top Right is the Mercenaries' Fortress, Bottom Left is the Great Horde. All of these buildings act as the Pentagon, as well as genarating powerful "army" units every 15 turns. The Adventurers' Guild Hall generates Hero Parties (my FF Hero Party Munit), the Mercenaries' Fortress generates Mercenary Armies, and the Great Horde generates Barbarian Hordes.

Note: I'm working on making new versions of the splashes for the Adventuerer's Guild Hall and Mercenaries' Fortress, since both are AOK conversions, and I happen to own AOK and be rather good at scenario editing.

I only know FF from some cut scenes and trailers I've seen on-line. Asking for me to goof on a mod I haven't played, based on a setting I'm not familiar with is probably not a good idea. A lot of those console games blend together for me, & I have some bizarre imagos anyway, so you'd probably end up with something like the

The next hurdle is to keep from going all Yaoi on you. I could go for a cross-cultural reference - but most people here are probably not old enough to share the same childhood viral memes I'm stuck with. Would this one make sense to any of you?

I double dog dare you to put one of these, name, image, and all, into your mod. :p

 That reminds me of one area in Final Fantasy IX where you run into Kupo, the Moogle, and he tells you he's "Kupo for Kupo Nuts"

Those were pretty damn funny, BM... I may have to put the "Coo-Coo for Chocobo Puffs" in my sig somewhere....

OK, here's the deal right now:

I've got all the regular and UUs added, as well as the various standard SWs, but none of the Summoned units or SWs.

The question is this: Would you rather me just release the mod now, as it is, which means that the Interface is only half-done, most of the civs don't have a proper pedia entry, the Unique techs work, but you don't get any summoned creatures from them, and the Regicide mode is available, but not set up how I want it.

OR would you rather wait another month or two, or even longer, while I try to scrounge up graphics for all the summoned creature SWs (I already have unit graphics for them all), add in the summoned creatures and their SWs, by which time hopefully the people who've said that they'd help out with the interface graphics and civilopedia would be done working on their stuff, and the mod would be more complete.

The only reason I'm asking is because interest in this mod seems to be non-existant, and I'm debating whether or not an early release (even with being not quite complete) might help boost interest and finally get me some help around here....

I don't mind either way- i'll download it half done gladly if a patch was released later on :D
Either way I won't get around to playing it until my exams are over :)

I am sorry to hear you think the mod isn't interesting because I've been interested from the very beginning Hikaro.

I love your airship units and can't wait to play with them in this mod. Are they ground units? I sure hope so because Air units don't work well in Civ3.

If you think no one cares now, release a half-finished mod & see what happens.

Id did wonders for the Warhammer Fantasy mod. :p

Seriously, though, I do need some feedback: IS anyone actually working on the interface graphics or civilopedia? I haven't heard anything back from those who said they were....

Although I just remembered something else: I still need to make a Grand Vizier Razfahd LH :wallbash::aargh:

So, sorry I got a bit jumpy....

As for the SW in question, I've got done:

FFVI: The Esper Statues
FFVII EVIL  The Jenova Project
Dwarves: Hall of the Mountain King (using the Petra wonder that just happens to be used for the Hall of Kings in the WH mod)

I can make easily enough:

FFVII GOOD :cowboy: The Huge Materia (all I need to do is import the Scene from inside Bugenhagen's observatory into Bryce and add 4 large crystals)
FFI&II GOOD :cowboy: The Great Gospel... Possibly use the Bayeaux Tapestry from the Conquests?
FFI&II EVIL  Temple of Fiends... Shucks! MRTN converted a TON of EVIL buildings a good while back, and I downloaded it to get the one building for the Yevon Temple, so that shouldn't be too hard to figure out.....
FFV: Phoenix Rook (aviary? Aery? whatever the proper term for a raptor's nest is?)... although I DO have a good splash for this one, and now that I think about it, my old blitzball court looks sort of like a giant bird's nest.. now all I need to do is remove the ocean and spehere of water inside, which will be replaced by a few large eggs....)
Orcs: Earth Shrine (or Standing Stones)... I could probably use one of the Stonehenge or similar wonders floating around here.....

Needed are:

FFIII: Fire Shrine
FFIV: Baron Castle (I suppose I could do another AoK conversion, but It would be nice to at lease have a reference pic)
FFVII: Garden
FFIX: The Eidolon Wall
FFX: The Caveren of the Stolen Fayth (the cave where you get Yojimbo)
FFXI: Something to do with Cape Terrigan (where you get Garuda)
Ivalice: The Zodiac Stones
FF CC: Mag Mell (I MAY be able to make serviceable pedia icons by scanning my FF CC strat guide...)

...so it would seem that the SW situation isn't as bad as I thought at first

If anyone could help me with image-mining for the ones listed under the "Need" section, I'd be grateful (just post the URL... I'll download and edit the images myself, once I get a few things, such as the Razfahd LH, sorted out).

Again, I'm sorry, but the lack of any kind of progress reports or activity, plus the impending release looming has made me a bit nervous....

Hikaro you should buy Millenium Dragon 2 from Daz it comes with the first dragon they made and an eastern dragon(can someone say Leviathan?) Its expensive but its worth it. I own it myself but I lack the unit making skills to use it properly......:(
