Hmm... Well, maybe I should make a python req to block that from happening? Or use <PromotionOverwrites>? Opinions?
 
Three casts seems fine to me.
 
Three cast sounds fine as the promotion for MoC is rather useless without the extra cast chance.

1) Missing music from Veraato diplomacy screen. There just some clapping instead
2) Birthright regained does NOT recharge racial spell. At least it's true for Grigori and Amurites. Maybe it has to do with the fact that their spells cast from a city, not a unit, but i am not sure

Also, about Grigori "Sidequest" feature (god, it's so unbalanced). It works even after 100 xp. The maximum XP gain from that feature is still 100, but that does not change the fact that Grigori can get 200 xp heroes by doing nothing at all. I'll be honest, it WAS very fun getting 4 dragonslayers and mages with a billion promotions and steamroll everything in sight, but it's just dirty. And you can send your generals and non-hero units on sidequest too. That's right, 100 xp generals for free. And i thought Archos to be unbalanced...

Yea, I agree about Sidequest. I liked the feature though, so I just changed mine so that it wouldn't be Grigori only. Saw no reason for it to be Grigori only, they already have adventurers.
 
I need playtesting feedback. Do the AI ever call the Mercurians or Infernals into the world in your games?
 
After playing some other mods of FFH, i started RFE with the final fixes.
After starting the game i looked on F8 the settings, it mentioned no Duin, no Archeron, no Esus. I really want to play with Duin in the game.
I didn't make this choises and cleared the cache. What went wrong ?

Barbarian activity the first 100 turns is okay for me, all kind of different guys.

If you select Custom Game when starting up a new game, you can select all the options that you want to play with. Though there is a completely separate issue right now that if you or one of the AI selects Baron Duin as a leader, then no one will be able to build the unit.
 
Yes, that's correct. There are other options, some that aren't compatible and I don't recommend, that are hidden so if you go into I think game options xml and change them from hidden you will have the option to use them. I disable Acheron usually but that's a personal preference.

about sidequesting - while i admit that the idea behind this feature is interesting, i propose rather harsh solution - remove it altogether. Pro: no feature - no problem Contra: it's boring. Or just cap it at 30 xp for non-hero units.

Well, i have one more solution, but it will require hell of a coding. When unit activates this ability, player receives a message, which says what exactly unit is required to do. For example, kill specific monster (spawn one if needed), conquer specific barb city, acquire specific artifact and so on. When this quest is finished, unit receives a flat amount of xp. But as i said, it will require hell of a coding, and it's not within a "polishing RifE" course of action
 
How should I safely remove the sidequest spell from the game? I know the relevant area is CIV4SpellInfos, but other than that...
 
I don't know, the problem is just removing it is sure to cause some type of crash. What you could do is make it relatively useless by changing all variables to 0 if you can find it.
 
I'm always in favor of more options rather than less. If all races can Sidequest, then it still allows a rather neat use of the forts, without being overly broken for any one race.

And I don't think just removing Sidequest would break anything in particular - it's not using a python script, and it's not referenced in the CvSpellInterface.py. You wouldn't be able to get the promotion, obviously, and both it and the text key would go unused (which doesn't matter at all). Other than that though, nothing depends on it as far as I can tell.

I'm on my fourth game now and I didn't see the AI summon the mercurians or infernals.
To be fair, one of these games was quite short as my capital was taken by orthus.
The other two were 500-700 turns in epic speed.
For the last game I'm at ~=350 turns in epic speed.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! (no promises about when it is finished, though)


You cast the spell and randomly get a quest to do (each unit can only get one quest and that's it, also, a unit must have a certain level to be able to get a task):

1º coded quest - raze a holy city within 40 turns to acquire 40 exp.

Is this appropriate for the grigori? Enough reward and time to do it?

Second idea: Survive a certain amount of turns as crazed?
 
I would think that they should be smaller quests than that, tbh. Maybe spawn a leashed barbarian unit somewhere close by, and if that unit kills it, run the dungeon exploration script for a reward? (though you'd likely want to remove the bad results :p )

So, Do we want to delete it, revise it, or replace it?
