IMHO #1 has better art than #3 and #4, but is missing the ingenious window removal which trumps the better coloring
(so I would prefer #1 with the right window removed, but had to vote for #3)

I'm pretty sure that #3 and #4 are, respectively, an edit of my more saturated entry and an edit of #1. I don't really see a color difference between #1 and #4.

#4 doesn't have the blue tints in the background of the C/windows that #1 and #3 have. Spacing is a bit different, too.

It'd be a shame if they actually have to stick with one of these 'rough draft' icons as-is.
Maybe declare a winner and give out the swag as promised, then hold another vote to finish the icon.

Clearly, people want the windows, either with or without the missing window to make a 'C'.

However, the BE font on #1,3, and 4 are IMO the worst ones of them all. They are too tall. Every other BE on this page looks more finished, professional, and appropriate to Beyond Earth. That is, of course just my opinion, but it would be nice to vote in the window and then have a competition for the 'BE'.

Or, maybe it's just an icon...and I'm making too big a deal about it

Tell you what, I'll make another icon. It'll use the teal-lettering tinted red, as well as the window, and I'll see how that looks.

And the letters are less clear on this one - it kind of runs together, like 3 blurred horizontal lines

Personally, I'm not a fan of the window converted to a "C". Creative, but cute things like that usually don't suit my own taste.

BUT, I do like the "B E" more horizontal and how it's proportioned in that space; much more sexy, haha.

Perhaps, to improve its clarity, apply a thin black stroke effect along the letters before shrinking it down to the actual size. Maybe even the window could use it too. Then, they'll really pop and be clear; especially at the tops where they're red.

OK, if we're doing variations of the contenders, I'll throw some out there...

1. I did a new window that presents more of the planet at the expense of some of the clarity (based on the icon that comes with the Steam pre-load).

2. With poll entry #1 above, I did stretch the letters out of shape for maximum visibility. For those that are complaining about that resulting in a less authentic font, I present a compromise of readability and more authentic shape.

3. The old distinct window with the smaller compromise font.

4. Since the C shape seems like the winner (and though it's a good idea, I personally don't prefer it), it does allow for more horizontal space, so third there is a version with the old distinct windows (the new one can't communicate a C effectively) and an even bigger font that as a bonus is less stretched vertically.

EDIT: Fixed number 4 a bit so there's less crowding between the C and B.
