Firaxis at Pax East 2014 - Speculations?

Dear Firaxis,

I don't want much; Civ5 and its current DLC is nearly perfect for me.

If you could add one thing, it would be a bit of 19th/20th Century terra-forming: mountain passes; tunnels; a bit of land reclamation or expansion into the sea; super-bridges between land tiles separated by water; an Engineer unit that doesn't get expended; maybe the odd disaster for the world congress to deal with.

I play on a Mac and I don't want to mess around with mods.

Once that's sorted, SMAC/X Mark2 would be great.

(sgnd) Your faithful customer.

Special Announcement = Civ 6. You shall see.

They are working on it already, probably for the last year (minimum). Working prototype and all...

:D

The main thing I'd want from Civ VI (or SMAC II if they were to get the rights back) would be for that beta test period to be long enough for play balance testing.

On the other hand: who the heck is Adam Sessler...? He hasn't had anything to do with Civ, has he?

A game journalist, he did a preview of Civ (and/or the expansions) and it struck me how little he knew about the game.

Yeah, he did a tour of the Firaxis office, and it was quite good:

Link to video.

So he's familiar with Firaxis, and Rev3 have been quite good with their Civ coverage.

As a semi-related aside, we're starting to use the CivFanatics facebook and twitter pages again (linked in my signature), for those that would like to 'like' our page or follow us on twitter. I've posted a link to this thread on facebook (twitter will start up in the next week or two).

Damn it, I'm getting too excited from the mere thought of Civ6 getting announced. :crazyeye:

I'd expect either a spin-off game or a console version for XBOX One and PlayStation 4.

First, people will be complaining about Civ6 missing their favourite feature and as usual proclaim it the worst game in the series. :D

They will make a major announcement: They are going to make Civ 5 actually playable and remove all the bugs. Yeah right!

Announcing new DLC for you to buy that will add even more bugs and freezes to the current game with no attention paid to current problems.

ENJOY!

The game has never, ever crashed for me after 1500+ hours of play, apart from the archeologist bug. That already makes it the most stable game I have ever played.

Yeah, multiplayer is extremely frustrating to play and incredibly buggy. I feel it is also a necessity since the AI is as dumb as a door post. It only becomes challenging through blatant and unrealistic cheating.

That's true, but it takes years to complete a game from scratch/foudnation either way. I don't expect Civ 6 until at least 2015/2016 to be honest.

Isn't 2016 the 25th anniversary of the original Civilization being released? I would imagine that would be a fairly big occasion, so it would make sense for Civ 6 to be released then. As for what this new news is, I have no idea. At least there's only three weeks to wait before we know!

Yes, sorry. I've tried to suppress the few times I attempted to play multiplayer. It really is night and day.

Most games cheat like that on higher than medium levels in SP though. Shooters and RPGs usually just nerf the player's stats and buff the AI's, RTS games spam units faster than you can, and puzzle games are downright rigged. Not saying the AI doesn't need a lot of work though, I particularly hate the embarking for no reason during wars.
