He says he is "sad" for professional reasons at the club and he is not sad because of losing out on an award to Iniesta. I think it was yesteday he said he wasn't looking for a better contract, which was basically my best guess at this whole "sadness" thing (if it is true). There are only a handful of clubs in the world who will pay the fee for him and his wages so unless he puts in a transfer request he is staying put.

Tax rules in Spain are changing in that foreigner workers will now have to pay much higher taxes, equivalent to what Spaniards pay.

Ronaldo doesn't want to pay the extra tax and wants the club to cover it - but that means 10-20 million euros out of their pocket.

He's quite young, and was a consistent starter for Melbourne Heart last season, so he definitely has potential. I have no idea how well he'll adapt though.

I know, Drogba's a humble chap and him finally beign European champion was the only good thing about Chelski winning this year, while Cristina is a complete arse.

The tax thing is not speculation - that is what is changing in Spain this year. What is speculation is whether a 5-15m drop in wages (or whatever it is) is why Ronaldo is upset. From what I've read it is.. I mean, who wouldn't be? Either way he'll probably end up staying.

"Thats more true" - (how the hell did that come out so wrong???!??!) is meant to be - yes the tax change is true; but whether that is the reason behind CR7's sadness at this stage is still speculation. No reason has been given so far. I hope a Prem team picks him up - would love to see him back on MOTD

Ronaldo's pay isn't that big as far as the top players are concerned. Esp. if warpus is correct, he probably feels people in charge don't appreciate him. He feels he had a superlative season last year, but because Philip IV couldn't hold Iberia together he isn't the right nationality and he didn't win any international tournament, so Iniesta robs him of player of the year. And the lack of money probably makes him more likely to be "sad" about other things, the same way the US is more likely to be "sad" about democracy in some country if the leader isn't doing what he's told in relation to trade rights, arms exports, oil, etc.

Of course I've been there! If you live in Barcelona you must go there to watch a match at least once in your life! Unless you don't care about football or you can't afford it. It has a great ambiance, but it has a tempo and a character defined as peculiar or even cold sometimes. It also depends on the match.
