No, been busy for some time, including slugging it out in B-grade football; did get a BoG at one stage.

The Cats don't need to be talked up. They are doing alright, but haven't got it all together yet; they are running into a bit of form, but form at this time of the season counts for nothing.

It helps getting the four points.

Anyway, gotta keep the lid on down at sleepy hollow.

I always liked that bit of commentary from last year's GF, where someone remarked that an unidentified flying object was seen hurtling across Corio Bay - the lid.

As you say, just getting the four points is what is needed at this time. I remember the old days too well to get all excited over the home and away season.

Should be interesting with Nathan coming back now.

"If it bleeds you can kill it" - you must be bleeding now Leigh that's bye, bye to Brisbane's hope of a top four finish. Bombers have now won four in a row - and who was the genius predicting Essendon for the wooden spoon? :trouble:

I always thought Essendon would have an alright season; they have the cattle there.
It would be good to see Lloyd get back to his best.

Sydney's ladder position is slightly inflated, I can't see us holding a top 4 spot.

I hope Hawthorn wins the flag if we can't. They play good attractive football, Franklin is a freak, and it'd make my sister happy.

At the current point in time, it would probably be fair to say Geelong, Hawthorn and the Bulldogs are clearly the best 3 sides, Collingwood clear 4th, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney 5-7th, with North, Essendon, Richmond, Carlton and St Kilda all fighting for 8th. However, Adelaide and Brisbane both have some key injuries IIRC so they might be closer to the just out of finals group but it'll take a couple of weeks before it'll really be known.

That is a fairly apt depiction of the ladder and form situation.
If Geelong can get over the current minor injury blip, then I can see us doing very well once again. Shame we couldn't play Fremantle in a Grand Final and give them a bit of last year's treatment.

Freo are a rabble. Mark Harvey is a good bloke and was a skillful courageous player and Essendon great, but he is not a coach. Taking on players like Tarrant - dud forward, Solomon - doesn't understand the word 'discipline', and Mark Johnson - to old and slow, was a major error of judgement.

And my pick for the final eight (in order) is:

Geelong
Footscray
Hawthorn
Collingwood
Sydney
Brisbane
Adelaide
St Kilda

To be fair, Tarrant was needed due to the lack of other forwards to play with Pavlich, and Solomon despite his lack of discipline has been a very solid contributer for them.

I can't see Adelaide making the 8 with Burton and Porplyzia out, especially with Calton and North sitting just outside. And if Essendon keeps up their form, and good Richmond plays rather than insipid Richmond, an Adelaide without their only 2 forwards can't compete.

Collingwood soundly beaten by the Mighty Bombers - ho hum. I guess I was wrong about the final eight - swap Colliwobbles for?

Lies. When we get Fraser back, and (hopefully) Rocca, we'll dominate.

Nothing will save the Colliwobbles from the ignominious fate they so richly deserve. :p

What happened yesterday? All the "better" teams choked. Collingwood again did badly against a "beatable" side, the Saints thought they could cruise, the Swans couldn't kick straight (6.17! AARRGH!) and the Lions narrowly lost to the Tigers. Who knows, maybe the Demons and Blues will win today!

I blame the posts and the umpires for last night's debacle. Oh and of course it didn't help that Sydney played terribly.

Bad football.

Sounding disturbingly like a Colliwobbler - unlike Essendon supporters who are humble in victory and gracious in defeat. :mischief:

The bottom four spots of the eight are opening up - might need to do a rethink on my final eight.

The posts thing was pretty freakish though, I think they hit it 4 times in about ten minutes at one stage.

And just to make matters worse, we have a bunch of injury concerns. O'Loughlin, Malceski, Leo Barry, Goodes.... injury concerns and poor form, the perfect combination to prepare for finals.

ANd I thought tha Hall was out until he was cleared by their Psychologist, but it appears winning games is more important.

Considering that the Swans forward line is now virtually non-existant with O'Loughlin and Playfair injured, Buchanan suspended and Davis out for the season (maybe even for good if he moves), the club prolly put pressure on Brecht (the psychologist) to clear him out early. In any case, at least Hall hasn't had another "brain-snap" (so far), though this might be at the expense of any aggression at all.
