Franchutes ... dont thrust his guys...
the play the "we never accept that really" althow you had been telling something for years...

:) OK, Magno, you are to be questioned by the military intelligence since you had contact with our enemies and you are survivor from the war. We need your witnesses. Can we get on gtalk now please?

I know we said we bury this diplomacy thing with the French, but I think an apology to them is due. An apology that we charged them with having agreement with Spaniards to leave cities empty. As we now know, it was fabricated by the Spaniards as attempt to get us in war. ANd it worked as a charm :) I will make the apology myself and personal, as not to make the team feel they are to be apologizing.

I... ummm.. I dont think I saved it, sorry guys.

Magno, you were about to write the long story, you told me just the short version and I am waiting for the long story myself too.

I don't understand why we are trying for peace. They have made it very clear to us that they don't want to talk to us and thus they are preparing for war. We have to do the same and then hope that we have demoralised them enough that they come begging for us for peace and we get peace on our terms, not theirs. The only way we will be able to get peace now is on their terms and they won't be very favourable.

Because peace is way cheaper. Peace with CivFR can be great for us if we end up with most of the zulu land.

Invade or not invade RB, with secure east border we will be just great.

But we will not get most of Zulu land...

From what Ot4e says, the price for peace with CivFr will be that THEY get most of Zulu lands, not us. This has not changed from the beginning when I said we had two choices. Those choices have remained the same.

1. Invade and defeat CivFr

or

2. Give CivFr what they want (majority of Zulu lands)

If we can't/won't do #1, then we must do #2 (pun intended :p). It will feel good to do #2 and relieve ourselves of this burden.

Anyway this is the same as what I have been repeating like a broken record until someone listens;)

How many cities will we put in the Zulu lands in the next 30 turns without a NAP with CivFr? 40 tunrs? 50? In less than 20 turns we will be in full scale War with RB along with CP and Poly. In a best case scenario, NAP with CivFr, all 3 of us fighting with maximum drafted, whipped Armies fighting well coordinated invasion, how long will it take to cripple or elimminate RB? 20 Turns? 30?

So that's at least 40-50 turns, in a BEST case scenario, before we can dedicate our attention to expansion... So what is the big deal about letting CivFr have the Zulu lands for now... Let them REX and expand while we attack RB. With good planning with our allies, we can finish off RB and then turn our battle hardened troops against CivFr to take back all the land they forced us to give them for NAP.

OK, we need serious discussion. What we are willing to give to CivFR for peace? And how long peace we talk about?

Bistrita already said his opinion. He is willing to let French keep Chinook and let them settle 1 more city 1 tile north of the jungle Dye if they agree to provide us with 1 Dye and 1 clam for the whole duration of the NAP.

All the free land is a much. There is land for like 4-5 GOOD cities (plus 2-3 so-so cities maybe). Which will be just a bit better than their initial demand, to which we declared war.

going for 2 will give the sign of.. " CFC is really getting seriously dangerous.. we could not help/allow that"
instead, if we consider a 1.5 option of just let the time goes and see whats happend. May be our allies consider pressing CivFr to liberate us so we can help them against RB. And may RB consider that we are already in a big mess with CivFr and let us for later and attack Poly.

I vote for a status-quo option. Dont change the balance, keep the front line with CivFr secure and wait what happends with RBvs our allies

If we want peace with CivFR, there's no doubt in my mind that we need to offer them something we don't wish to part with, like more of the Spanish cities than we are comfortable with. Alternatively (or additionally too) we can also try to offer them free settling rights in the unsettled area between our cultures. Are we willing to give them these concessions in exchange for e.g. 30-50 turns of peace, then I think we may pull it through. But make no mistake: The deal will be disfavourable for us, and we will not like it. We need to keep a clear picture in our heads that we will be in a better position later on and may then take back what is rightfully ours. But until then, we need to be humble - even servile.

If they accept that deal, I'm going to offer 1 beer to each of you. I am convinced they will just laugh of us based on that meagre offer.
