SporEvolution: a succession Spore Creature Creator (SporeCC) game.

Rules of the game:

1. Must be using the full version of the SporeCC to play.
2. Next person to play is first person to post a "My Turn!!!" message. That person then has 48 hours to download the most current version of the creature, modify it using the creature description and the environmental changes description, and then re-upload it to the thread over their "My Turn!!!" message.
3. If the next player fails to do so in 48 hours, the very next person to to post a "My Turn!!!" message gets the creature.
4. Upload your creature with both an updated creature description, AND a new environmental change for the next player to use (do so like the first creature "Lord Iggy").

How to Upload to the thread:

1. Upload your creature to the Sporepedia first, through your SporeCC.
2. Login to Sporepedia website with FireFox as your browser (Firefox.com)
3. Find your creature in the My Creations section of your account (left side). Double Click on it.
4. A "creature details" window should pop-up. Right-click on the creature and choose "Copy Image Location".
5. Post that location to this thread using the "Insert Image" button when you reply to this thread.
6. Wrap the image tags with html tags by highlighting the image code in the thread, then click the "Insert Link" button, and then paste the creature location again. This makes the creature a pop-up httml link if you click on the picture, which can then be save to your harddrive for loading into the SporeCC.

How to download from the thread:

1. Doubleclick on the creature. If the poster did the tags right, a popup window will show. Download that picture and drag-n-drop it into the SporeCC to load it for editing.
The easiest way is to unclick full-screen mode in the SporeCC options, start a new creature, and then drag the downloaded creature on the desktop to new creature window.

First Creature: Lord Iggy

Description:
This sea-swimming avian, similar to a penquin, lives in a rocky beach ecology in a generally cold, dry climate, on a diet of tasty, small fish.

Environmental change:
A shift in pH has severely reduced the small fish diet, and Lord Iggy is being forced to shift to a diet of plankton and similar protozoa.

I nominate Lord Iggy as the honorary, first "next player".

I guess I'll open it up, since Lord Iggy doesn't seem to be about. C'mon step up and yell "My Turn!".

What don't you get? The "My turn" bit is just to reserve the post for uploading your version so we don't get lots of spam in the thread.

Perhaps you should have told Iggy you had nominated him.

Also, why not start at the begining, and have everyone take turns to add a bit and tweak it until we have created something?

Yeah, I guess. Ok someone post a shape. and get it rolling.

I'd do the basic shape if I only had Spore on this computer. But I don't, so I won't post it.

This is also more a subscription-ish kind of post. :)

Alright, as soon as my laptop with Spore gets connected to my college's wi-fi, I can play- until then, I'm just watching with extreme interest. I think we should tag these creatures with 'civfanatics sporevolution'.

Just after patching my Spore game, I'll upload a creature base. :) It will be a very simple creature.

Here I started it. It's as an attachment, labeled Start.png. Just load it up in SporeCC and tweak it some.

Presenting the Seafashre:

Descended from the Seapoultre, the Seafashre has developed a thick apparatus next to its beak, to help harvest the planktonic bounty of the sea.

DId you guys make this?

Well, I'm finally responding to the invitation.

BTW, I can't open the second creature. The file's been altered.

Cool Iggy, BTW, maybe put a selection pressure for the next player to pick up.

Maybe in 3 weeks I'll pick up this forum game. Right now it's like Coors light vs Jim Beam. :)

Selection Pressure: The Ice age which the Seafashre lives in is coming to an end. Sea levels are rising, and large, effective predators are moving into its habitat.

The Monark:

Now avoiding the ocean predators, it has given up eating plankton, and now spends most of its time scavenging around the shoreline. Seaweed and other plants may also appear in its diet. Its beak apparatus has already atrophied into strange lumps, perhaps ceremonial objects. It now has a powerful jaw to demolish washed-up carcasses, and sensitive scent receptors have grown behind the eyes, detecting the smell of death from far away. Head-mounted spikes provide additional defence, and a way for alphas to duel for dominance on the beaches.

It's legs have strengthened, and it can take trips overland when needed. However, it is still a good swimmer and remains tied to marine habitat.

(I can't seem to share via sporepedia so here's the special PNG for you creatures folder: )

I'm too tired to think of the next selection pressure right now, so anyone feel free to make one up!

Selection pressure: The sea is still rising, introducing more and more large predators. Some have even learned to walk the land a bit like the Monark has, and it is no longer secure. Especially a number of specialized parasites live in the shoreline now, infesting the Monark through its diet of seaweed. The parasite is deadly and kills the Monarks.
