I agree that there many potential techs that could potentially be developed. As @Hrothbern there are possibilities with nano layer solar cells.
There is also potential for making diesel and petrol from biomass and removing CO2 from the atmosphere.
But we can not rely on any of those techs until they have been developed.

If the source of energy does not change, the economy is doomed.
If the source of energy does change, the economy will stay broadly the same.

Considering the economy is expanding at about a 4% clip per year and switching to clean energy keeps that going possibly and not switching stops that growth, well I think that is kind of my point.
 
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the children's climate strike that happened worldwide yesterday. I think people will dismiss it as the immature rantings of youngsters as their peril. I have hope that this signals a coming sea change where the youth enthusiastically exercise their right to vote more frequently going forward.
