Fourth Edition D&D

Darksun is leading a poll over at the WoTC for a reprint and their community there is the 2nd most active one for old campaign settings behind Dragonlance.

Athas.org is also releasing rules for 3.5 for Darksun.

O Gawd dragonlance. That can go with fauren(or whatever it's called) into the toilet. I thought they already updated dragonlance though?
Oh yeah, thank god they discontinued Greyhawk, it was starting to become defined.

You though the Forgotten Realms (Faerûn) was toilet-worthy? I actually thought that setting had some really good features.

Yeah it did have some cool stuff, but too much stuff was printed for it. The first box of it was cool(with some knight woman on a horse) was cool, so was the second box(the purple one with the unicorn), but I got tired of hearing about it. The world felt too cluttered.

And Drizzit can die, slowly. Bastard

We played several campaigns in Dragonlance this past decade. It is easily my favorite of the settings, and the novels were even better.

Forgotten Realms = processed cheese.

Disagree. Maybe there's an argument that Forgotten Realms is kinda crap, but imho Dragonlance is even worse. It's just too "black and white". And it has Kender, for gods sake! :) The single most annoying fantasy race, ever.

To be honest, the major thing wrong with Forgotten reams is the Drizzt-Elminster Axis of Cheese. Remove them and it's pretty cool.

I always thought Drizzt was a good/interesting character but got ruined by Drow Fanboy Syndrome (DFS for short).

Just to let you all know, I have VETOED all content from Wizards. That is, I won't use any of their non-rules books that have campaign and flavor information. This does not mean I won't use TSR or White Wolf stuff however.

Yeah, that's probably true, but it still doesn't change the fact that Drizzt became cheesy and annoying as heck at some point.

Yeah and I pretty much discriminate against drizzt fan boys from playing in my campaigns now.

(lemme guess, yer a drow. hmm what weapons, oh wait i know! 2 scimitars, how original. lemme guess normal people can't pronounce your character's name either?)

There IS NO FOURTH EDITION.

Seriously. It's a bad joke. And they promised that it wouldn't be out until Feb 09 at the outside. And they're making rust monster damage disappear after 5 minutes to prevent the players suffering losses. Bad decisions all round.

I'll stick with 3.5, thank you very much!

Bright day
What!? I have lost all my faith in you, how can a brilliant mind such as you play D&D instead of GURPS?

Also, what is so "nerdy" about table-top RPGs?

I like Drow and I had a cool concept for a CE(CN) Drow bard but its hard to find DMs that allow Drow.

I'm in a game right now and one of the guys is an albino drow wizard/fighter. OOOO. I call him the ji..ed elf =) Like Frob said, Forgotten Realms has some cool concepts, but fanboydom and marketing have killed it for me. TIred of all the new source material that come out for it. That being said, I was dissapointed when all this new stuff came out for Greyhawk, but then they just stopped. Ahhh.

In 13 years of playing I've never had a PC who wanted to be a drow. We done a Drow game once set in the underdark.

Didn't want to be drow?? I have one thing to say:

Fiend Folio stat generation. Dex = 8 + d12

People who want to be a drow usually fall into a group: real annoying and/or pompous(in my experience anyway) Did you use the box set for the underdark games? That is a fun campaign

No I got a rough map of the Aztec capital city, stuck i underground and put a temple of Lolth on the Pyramid. Add sacrificial rules from the Book of Vile Darkness
