Fox-05: The RNGod Strikes Back

As I told fox earlier, my memory sucks. I thought that we had 19 turns to go. My 15 and another 4. That explains why nothing seemed to work for us. We were directionless for 7 rounds. Should I roll penalty and next objective of leave it for the next player?

I'm going to be controversial and suggest we treat this one as a trial run and start over :D.

Vra declared us having passed a trial when I think we all know we probably hadn't... and now this one... (plus all of the damn jungle and crappy city sites...)...

I was going to actually say that if this was a private game, I would have restarted it by now.

Seems like 3 players (and 1 very faithful lurker) support a restart.

I am going to see if bererks01 supports that as well. (since he is going to be affected the most). Personally, I don't see anything seriously wrong ... yeah, people forget abt time limit and all that, but it is understandable. The more controversial part is whether an objective had indeed been fulfilled. OTOH, a restart is a good idea, as it allows me to lay some ground rules on reporting which i had neglect to do so, plus it gives me the opportunity to correct my mistake of not selecting "Random Personalities" :hammer2:

Comments on the variant mechanics would be nice too, now that 3 players had went through it once. Is the addition of personal objectives making this more confusing or fun?

I like the personal objectives, though perhaps some work could go into making them less era specific? Or perhaps we don't do them before writing is discovered (as that seems to be about the time we can start interacting with other civs in a meaningful way).

I'm fine with a restart. Maybe we need another punishment for forgotten objectives :p

and for the forgetful players (duh), maybe some signs that people should update that contain the current objective, deadline and such. The personal objectives are spot-on ... they are keepers.

Good idea, or having different objectives before writing (eg discovering a tech, killing x units, discovering an unknown AI, make 1d4 tile improvements)

lurker's comment:
Why not roll the dice to see if you restart? muah ha ha

Actually, that is a great suggestion. The only question is the probability associated with the restart ... 50%, 40%, 35%, 16%, ...

... and get Fox to make the critical roll!

Hmm alright, I will roll a dice, if the heads of the couple are close to each other, we will restart.

* drum roll *

*spot lights shine all over the stage and finally rest on the spinning dice *

TA .... DA ... !

And the heads are .....

T O G E T H E R !

Restart it is then.

I am unwilling to change the list of objectives too much, my opinion is that if the RNGod wants us to accomplish an impossible task, then that is the will of the RNGod.

However, I do recognize that it might not be too fun if most objectives are mission impossible in the early game. As such I have made some additions. See post #1 for the additions. Basically, I added some alternative objectives that player may choose 1 over the other.

I have also taken this opportunity to add some reporting ground rules,

Let's get started ... I will regenerate the map, and berserks01 will start the game off.

Is it gonna be in a new thread or are we continuing on this thread?

Well, Albert Einstein is wrong. God does play with dice.

:D

In all his randomness, the RNGod accidentally dropped his divine dice and as , well, random chance would have it, the dice shattered, and he sets off to build a new one again.

This time, he makes sure he gets it right with the "Random Personalities".

And thus, the RNGod Minions bore a new face again.

YUKS! Still a fat ugly old man!

:gripe:

The minions' start is also largely similar ... :sigh:

Hmmm ... so much for randomness.
