Fox-30: The Sly Fox

I hae it, and wil try to play tomorrow night (in 20h or so).

Need to check, but a city N of the stone seems fine (and could eat the trufs while waiting to add pork to it).

Probably need to research the wheel before Iron, if we want to connect stone (need to check the number as well, maybe it could fit that way).

I think we should hurry up to get the GW running. If we wait for the settler we should use stone and thus settle on stone. Otherwise we should really start the wall ASAP, I have no good feeling delaying it.

Settling on a desert stone is often a good option since it is not a great tile to work, but here we are deseperate for hammer.
Settling on the stone has the advantage of getting the gold in the BFC, and then pretending another city could try to get marble+copper (but that is quite a sweet dream with america closer).
I am still more in favor of settling N of stone (we get an extra banana for that, so it could be either a GP farm, a workshop heaven or a cottage city). By the time the settler will be there, I guess all the road would be done and we can always start GW without stone.

I don't think we will nab the copper in time before Washington takes it.

What is the vote : on stoen or N of stone.
Or more likely, I end my round with an active settler next to the sites :)

No, Sury is up north. Fox is right, it might not be Washington. I'm just speculating that it is because it's the same border color as Washy's name.

And I also agree with Fox that copper isn't the priority. Besides, iron is probably in our BFC :p

lurking: Ah, you're right, sorry! I looked at the save since I'm intrigued that you haven't met someone so close. Looks like Greece- they start with hunting as well!

Not that it matters in te slightset. Now leader bets: Going with Pericles, and you would rpobably have noticed them earlier if it wasn't 3rd border level.

Sorry, just realized that I forgot to attach the screen of our surrounding land. Here it is.

How about settling on the gold? It'd give you 3 bananas, both stones and marble, and incense. Not to mention the gold you've settled on.... could be the perfect GP farm, with enough hammers for some production as well.

I'd also suggest another city E of the south-western banana as well.

I don't like settling on gold, especially early.

To me the site on the west (2 rice banana pig) looks much more like a great GPfarm, it has fresh water and many more tiles to farm.

I still vote for settling on stone for quick access to stone as well as a food ressource (pigs) and gold in the BFC. Plus it blocks a tiny bit better whoevers to our east :p BTW it is rather unlikely that its someone with hunting imo.

In the long run, settling N of stone is better IMHO. Th problem with this only the timing to gain access of stone. If we road towards stone now, we should be able to complete the road from capitol (by the way, I move to rename it ... I can never remember how to spell it, let alone pronounce it) to stone by the time the settler settles. What's left is a quarry. In the meanwhile, the capitol can start another worker after the settler, and begins the GWall thereafter. Stone should roughly come on line at this time.

Well, at least that's my suggestion.

Settling on the stone, on the other hand, gains gold which might be useful for emperor's low happy cap.

In conclusion, I am happy with either settling on stone, or move 1N.

T0 - 2625 (T56)
Little rant :)
We should have research the wheel earlier as the worker as nothing to do, right now... (except chopping tree outside, with millions of panthers around :))
So I change research to the Wheel and the tiles worked to max research (7t).

IBT we kill 2 panthers (warrior+scout)

T1 - 2600
Warrior is WoodII now

T2 - 2575
Meet Shaka (scout from east)
Worker pre-farm a tile on the way (4t) as nothing else to do.

T3 - 2550
Our healing scout kill a bear

T4 - 2525
Meet Alex (light blue - scout from east)

T5 - 2500
A barbarian warrior (very injured as he killed Alex scout) appears.

T6 - 2475
The Wheel-> back to IW
barbarian warrior suicides vs our archer waiting for our settler.

T8 - 2425
We pop gems on the hill S of silver.

T9 - 2400
Our wood2 lands next to a barb archer, fortunatly behind a river and in wood.
IBT
and we just barely win.

T11 - 2350
Crash to desktop !! (first time since a long while, of course i am not using BUG yet, but I was Alt-Tab-ing not checking any log).
Reload for autosave, no pb.

T12 - 2325
Settler -> barrack (for1t at least) at max growth.
Settler move onto the Stone at the same time as the worker finishes the road.

Stop now, letting the discussion continue

Either
(1) settle next turn on the stone, which would be immediatly connected, therefore immediatly start GW
OR
(2) move 1N, then worker need to road (3t), and quarry (4-5t?)

(2) is probably better long term, but might delay GW too much.

I am fine either way.

Settling on stone right now: we get gold, and capitol can start GW immediately while 2nd city start a worker. In the long term, the pig and banana should support the city to work on both gold and incense, turning it into a good economic powerhouse.

Moving 1N: a better city then on stone, at least it gives more production which is scarce in the current map. This does delay the Gwall by close to 10 turns, but that also means we can finish IW by then and if there is indeed iron in the capitol's BFC, it will nicely boost the production of GWall as well, somewhat compensating for the delay. Well, that's a bl00dy big IF. It also leaves space for a city to grab gold and marble + 2 bananas.

So the mystery blue civ is alexander ... not a good sign with him so close.

I think we need the wall now, 10 more turns are a great risk.

Bad news about alex: we can't really steal much of him. Having such a neighbor isn't that nice either. I think we should either make sure to adopt his religion or try to get him dogpiled.

 Our BFC is mad! 3 hills + silver + gems + cottages + food = great buero capital!!
