Some Fox Rants (TM) First ...
Our workers are so wrongly deployed. First off, road system to the battle front is of paramount importance. They should be the highest priority. As it is now, there is no roads connecting our units-producing cities to Cala-whatever, while workers are doing useless thing like going to jungle hills, presumably to build mines, and planting sugar which won't be worked on anyway.
Secondly, the workers are all so lonely. For instance, up in Magyar, two workers are building cottages side by side, each costing 4 turns. Isn't it far better to have them build cottages on one single tile to get it up first in 2 turns?
We are in short of workers, so do deploy them more efficiently.
On with the Story ... from the side of the Olympians
Gates of Tartarus is opening once again ...
Whispers of the wind carried the dreaded messages as they stroke fear into the very hearts of the Minions of Olympians.
Gates of Tartarus is opening once again ...
For this meant the Greeks under the banner of that monster half-breed Hercules are going to be imbued with the evil powers of the Titans again.
The minions trembled, confused. They have lost the city of gems, and they must get it back. They must now choose how best to fight back.
Across the river banks, two groups of Greeks were waiting. It seems easier to go for the enemies on the southern hills.
They guessed wrongly. One by one, the minions catapults and horses were slaughtered. Even those Greeks elephants that were not possessed by the Titans emerged triumphant. How could they fight such an enemy?
They fled to the city of Oxhuitza, as new waves of Olympic axes and catapults arrived. The Gods on Mount Olympia had wanted them to either get the gems back, or denied them to the Titans. Unfortunately, they were too late. Hercules had reinforced the stack, and the city of Oxhuitza are now under siege. All seems to be lost against such intractable foes ...
Fortunately, the Gods do not call themselves Gods for nothing. They had halted the attack of the Greeks by their divine power, when the Oxhuitza seems destined to fall with only one badly injured axe left. The Minions rejoiced, as they pull their routing troops into the city, and Oxbuitzians lived to the see yet another sunrise.
Unfortunately, that will be their last.
The entire Mayan region were shocked with the successive lost of two cities to Hercules. They tried to take it back:
But their efforts were in vain, as even more bad news shattered the morale of the Minions:
... Hercules had yet trained another human with great military might that are clean (not evilly imbued with superhuman strength by the Titans):
... But he had also built the Great Library
... and to make matter worst, they were granted the library quest just when they had finished the Great Library and acquired exactly seven cities.
How do you fight an enemy which had Titanic abilities, Herculean strength, and incredible luck?
Which was why the Minions sent down south were slaughtered ... Not only is there no hope of recovering the lost cities, it would seems yet anther invasion of Maya region of the Olympic is eminent
And rumors had it that the next invasion would even feature men with spears that were transformed to pikes by the Titans spirits, rendering their horse archers effectless, and also tales of legendary machines of wars called Trebuchets, devised by Hercules himself.
Yes. The Minions of Maya Olympic were all trembling with fear, dreading the inevitable arrival of the day when the horns of the Greeks troops sounded and the Herculean banner sighted.
And as if to reaffirm their fears, the winds whispered softly yet again the chimes of death ...
Gates of Tartarus is opening once again ...
Some Interesting Notes
As you must have surely gathered, we got engineering, thanks to the power of Representative Great Library. That's when I stopped, after upgrading all the spears to pikes (I have been trying to build more spears awaiting for this, and that is also why I used up the GG so fast). We had to decide how our tech path should go.
One way is to go alphabet (blue) for spies to start our espionage activities.
Another way (purple) is to get Taoism from the bulbing of the scientist that has a 80% chance of arriving next turn. I forgot what is needed for the scientist to bulb Philosophy, but I think that can be done (unless the opening of Paper path makes that impossible). We would need to get Mediation first though.
A third way is to go for guilds (red). We need the grocers, and it is nice to have the horse archers upgraded to knights.
The forth way (yellow) is ofcourse to go paper and get Education, praying for a Liberalism slingshot in a Deity game
Personally, I would prefer to get Taosim if it is still possible.
Another interesting thing is the Diplomacy screen.
It seems that the purple faction is at an advantage, with HRE being hammered from a Deity to Settler

, and Pacal on the way to join him by our hands. Hatty is the only one that seems to be able to fight off the Purple deities successfully. But that might change when HRE is history (not having even seen the face of Hercules), and assuming Maya is being swallowed by us, leaving Egypt to fight the other three deities alone. We may not want that to happen, since it would mean we lost the counter to the growth of the Gods when Egypt finally succumb to the combined mights of Joao, Lizzy and Toku.
It is really interesting to weigh whether we want to kill off Mayans as soon as possible, or leave him there just to help the green faction put up a fight.
Two other interesting observations regarding Pacal:
- Pacal had yet met his allies
- he had somehow adopted the religion of his adversaries.
