Fox10 - The Real Thing

I played 15 turns. We have some interesting options open now. First, an oddity that I'm going to post as my joke. I think we got moved from somewhere around here since I don't see how you can claim these fish. It also explains why Gandhi has 22% of the world's land

Civ4ScreenShot0071.jpg

The report:
235 - Inherited turn. Looks good.

236 - We encounter Gandhi. Immediately declare war.

237 - Bandits are ravaging our countryside. I pay 12 gold.

238 - Gunpowder completed.

239 - Calendar completed.

241 - Theology completed. I would have gone after astro first but I realized that we're out of non-military builds and I didn't want to build any military before we got theocracy. We also get a lucky event:
Civ4ScreenShot0070.jpg

242 - GS is born and settled.

245 - We prove that the world is round.

248 - Sistine is BIFAL.

249 - AP is completed. Parthenon is BIFAL (I had invested one turn of hammers).

250 - We get our Parthenon refund of 90 gold. Astronomy is also completed. End of set.

Churchill does NOT have feudalism yet as he appears to be isolated. Gandhi, Gilgamesh, and Zara are in a love fest unfortunately :( Gandhi has the most land out of the three but I think his over expansion has hurt his tech rate as he's not teching very quickly yet. However that will probably change as he hits guilds and banking to generate more gold.

We don't have any boats yet, nor do we have any military units to load on. This is what our city looks like:

Civ4ScreenShot0072.jpg

I recommend completing the observatory first. I thought about going pacifism after astro to unlock AW but that's a lot of hammers that we'll need to divert from military builds. If we're not planning on attacking anybody soon then I think AW before military may be a better idea (and staying in OR until we finish AW). If we're skipping AW then we should go theocracy ASAP and start building maces while teching towards biology.

The AI isn't even close to challenging our biology sling as nobody has paper (or CS). The closest is Churchill who has philo.

That's call deep-sea fishing  ... or Ozzy-Overlooked-It.

I think going after theocracy is the correct move as we will be moving to military builds. Hmm ... since observatories is not yet on line, I would expect us to be running full-merchant mode (we are going to need money soon for upgrades).

Since Phhilo is coming on line with Observatory finishing on the same turn, I would delay until then to evaluate if AW is worth it. (Offhand, I think it is very nice, at +1 hammer per priest, a priest is worth much more than an engineer, and we can run more priests than engineers).

Nice first turnset BTW! :D

In the other news, I got it ... temporarily. I am flying off to somewhere tomorrow, but I do think I can get this turnset done today. Else, I will swap and let Immy take a poke at this first.

First of all, my sincere apology. I say the wrong thing to Shyuhe:

These researchers in Civ4 likes to state the obvious and call it a great work:

Meanwhile, we try to get some naval battles going, hopefully to get a GG just in time for military science to get an academy.

We are also glad to have Albert Einstein settling in our fine island state:

Uncle who?

Not 'who', but 'what'.

We have got philosophy, obviously, and head on to get chemistry first, before going for Liberalism. I think Printing Press is needed for SciMeth.

Before passing the save to the next player, I revolted to theocracy:

Fox10-AD1160-Theocracy.jpg

Fox10-AD1170a-City.jpg

As you can see above, we are now ready to unleash the previously built-to-one turn units. However, I suggest we interleave each of them with a frigate or something like that, to make full use of the hammer overflow.

 I don't get what this is referring to? We didn't have access to philosophy for the longest time since I went astronomy first. Or were you referring to the 2 turn anarchy for 1 civic swap? I don't think it would have been worth the few short turns that we would have been in pacifism considering how fast we had to switch to theocracy. :pat:

By me consider yourself swapped....

This means I got it, but will not play today ( have another pending games )

In the meanwhile feel free to post advice ( I suppose that we want to reserch lib until 1 turn left and to beeline Bio ,isn't it ? )

This was a really dull turnset ( played 10 turns ).... Basically builded military ( some frigates as well ), left lib with some :science: left and trailed to SciMet....

Longer version:

Made some exploring..... AI are entering in "navalites" .... Garrisons are small, and they will be easily eaten by superior tech armies

I made some frigates.... we should send them to milk some GG points with those pretty galleys and trirremes ( frigates vs galleys... this doesn't look emperor at all )

Sometime soon we should research Guilds for the Grocer, both for the $ as for :health: ( not that this will be important in a not so far future ) , and Banking ( Merc + Bank ). But Bio first .....

This is an M-rated joke, so beware... ;)

Spoiler :
A doctor had sex with one of his patients and is now sitting on his desk, totally confused and ashamed. "How could I lose all my standards of ethics and morality ? I'm a doctor, I'm not supposed to do such things with my patients..." All of a sudden a little devil appeared on his right shoulder and whispered: "Why are you so upset ? Do you know how many doctors have sex with their patients ? You're not the only one, believe me..." At once his face grew joyful again. He said: "You're right, I've done nothing bad at all..." Suddenly a little angel appeared on his left shoulder, saying: "Remember you're a veterinarian..."

My turns surely were not dull. I played 25 turns, but those were really enjoyable ones. Look:

Battle Stats:
Units victorious while attacking : 20
Units victorious while defending : 3
Units defeated while attacking : 1
Units defeated while defending : 4

We got a GS during my first turns which I settled. With the discovery of SciMeth we hit the Industrial Era in 1305 AD. Not that bad...

51760701ke3.jpg

We have Oil, but we have to wait for Plastics until we can use it.

76760979ww3.jpg

Now I know that the Biology sling was the plan. I looked at the tech situation after SciMeth came in:

32021656ly3.jpg

No AI is even close to Education. So I thought it was safe to take something better with Lib and research Biology on our own. I hired some Merchants to balance our troop costs and started on Biology (15 turns only).

I had sent out some Caravels (and lost two in English territory, damned Triremes). After that lesson I sent out a Frigate. Time to play ! This earned us our first GG:

51550845xm1.jpg

He is at Cuzco as I didn't want to decide what to with him. Do we want +2XP or a Super Medic ?

Meanwhile I had assembled a nice stack. Time to cleave some skulls in earnest, not only those water games...

15696219vd9.jpg

Aksum was on a hill with some LBs in it, bot those CRII Trebuchets sure know how to crack the nutshell...

80701659dd3.jpg

And Ethiopia's capital is no more. Note the Partizan event, we lost a Mace due to it. I sent our army back for healing.

37331849vw6.jpg

Biology is in, and I had started building the preserves with SciMeth coming online (trained a 2nd Worker for speeding it up). National Park here we come !

17265262um8.jpg

The tech situation:

37907237nq3.jpg

Still the AI is miles away from Lib. I've started research on Nationalism (the Taj anyone ?) but currently just 1 turn has invested in it. We could take Physics and the free GS with Lib, but I'd suggest we research it ourselves (17 turns currently) and take Electricity/Radio/Industrialism according to the AI research.

Great turns, finally we are fighting land battles :goodjob:.

I think we can try to take Artillery with Lib if possible. Need steel and Physics. We don't really need tanks or infantries, although electricity/industrialism is on the path to plastics.

I think we neither want +2XP nor supermedic, we want military academy.

Cabledawg or Pawelo is UP, whoever got it first wins.

I was kidding when I said that we could Lib Radio, but we're pretty near of it... But I'm not sure we can hit Arties with Lib ( even if it is the more desirable Lib we can get... CR III arties can make some damage  ). But the path is clear, research Physics and see what we can get ( and don't be overambitious.... ;) )

The partisan event is not good... We will be razing every city we conquer and the AI will get partisans from every single raze :( Industrialism + marines may be the safest bet. Raze from the coast so that we minimize our losses to the partisans?

I think we should first research military science, then get artillery with liberalism. After that beeline for plastics, then combustion.
