2K Games has put the full version of Railroad Tycoon Deluxe as a free download on the Official Railroads! website. The file is in the downloads section and the size is only 14.2 MB. Railroad Tycoon Deluxe was released in 1993 for the DOS platform.

Happy downloading and have a great Thanksgiving Day!

Thanks to Greybriar for posting about it.

I'll definitely check it out when I get home. :D

YAY ir works!. I had to go into the file and click on one of windows with the little yellow bolt icon in it. No short cut icon came up for me.

I remember one time when I bought Railroad Tycoon 3, I gotten a free Railroad Tycoon 2 Platinum with it a few years back.

Wouldn't it be cool if they gave Civ1 away. I never got a chance to play that one. This is great initiative from 2K Games.

edit: Ahhh, a webpage to the new Railroads! pops up when you quit the game ;) Nice promotion idea :goodjob:

Woo freakin hoo. I'm completely underwhelmed, so much so I might just sit here and be bored. If you don't already have it, you'll be lucky if it works on your computer, and it has since been superceded by RRT2, a FAR BETTER game. Some may even think RRT3 is better, but there won't be anyone playing this for more than a few minutes. Considering how rapidly software ages, and that this game was released to the discount bin almost immediately, I can't see how software shouldn't become public domain after 2 years of support for it ending.

Maybe for the next giveaway, we could have a penny? It would be worth more.

Hello,

of course I also downloaded it straight away , I shortly installed it, it ran fine in the dosbox.. but hey .. those days were really ugly ones :) :)

I mean I remember that I played the game really often 15 years back and on highest level .. but i can not imagine how anymore :)

Times are changing and we are changing accordingly.(roughly translated)

I played that game quite a lot back in the day... altough I didn't quite know why I always lost the stations in the "service race" against the AI.

I love that game - both original and the deluxe (which is the download).
I wonder why they skipped the southern england map in the deluxe-version though...

Too confusing for me to understand. Could someone please give a run-through of how to play?

They didn't include the manual? A Pity.

The wikipedia article is pretty good - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railroad_Tycoon

Give that a read and if you have questions, come back and ask away. ;)

Man, I always wanted to try the RRT-DX version - guess this is my chance - hurray - thanks publishers! ;)

They didn't include the manual?....

The manual (RAILSDX.PDF) and the Railroad Tycoon Deluxe Copy Protection Reference Sheet (REF_SHEET.PDF) are both included in the RRDX download and are installed by default in the C:\Program Files\2K Games\Sid Meier's Railroad Tycoon\Manual folder.

Nice Wikipedia article, Krupo. Thanks for the link.
