these boys did not do so well in history; chinese is ready for a nice long march and the frenchie has no idea what the germans have ready for them, but in YOUR hands, they will be INVINCIBLE:mwaha: :mwaha:

the frenchie is based on my WW1 machinegunner (I think someone stretched out the tunic of the infantry mesh but I could not find to give credit) and the chinese is an infantry with slightly modified modern worker head

Ah!! Thank you - awsome units
top quality :)
Perhaps they'll will fight better in 1939 mod ;)

They look great! Do you know whether the French uniforms are WW1 or WW2 though?

thanks chuggy, i think that the french uniform did not change much between the end of ww1 and the beginning of ww2, so take your pick....although my version may be a little TOO blue, i like the contrast, so i left it that way.

Thanks, they should fit in with all the other infantry models people have made (I think they are almost all WW2). It should make a good flavour unit for France in any case.

Great. The Chinese infantry should make it into Road To War as a flavour unit of Communist China...

From 1915 to the Fall (1940), French armies used the same uniform or roughly the same.
The French uniform was blue, as it always was in the French Armies.

Even today you will still find blue as one of the most important color in the French parade uniform. Our navy and Air force are all in blue, whereas the (land) Armies is more mixed.

That's not true. The French army started to replace the "Horizon Blue" of the WWI uniforms in 1921, and by 1935 all the uniforms were Khaki.
So that's WWI uniform we have here (for the color at least).

And saying the uniform was always blue is also a big error. It started to get blue after the revolution, and remained so for infantry until 1915, where it started to get replaced by Khaki.

Before the revolution, the French armies were grey or white.

For the cavalry, it's different, as there were more different colors, like green for the chasseur and the dragoon.

That's what I thought originally but when Hian said that I thought I must have been mistaken.

Many people wrongly believe that the French army has "always" been blue

Except some players of CivIII who think it was pink

 Didn't Civ I or II have pink for France as well, when it couldn't get blue (i.e Germany was using that colour).
