Frequently Asked Questions

It might be Opera. I remember some people having trouble if not running explorer. As far as I know, Game Flood is the only site right now. If you can, try it with Explorer. Otherwise, wait for someone with more knowledge than me to help you;)

I'm glad to your help Jwin ! I tried it. I thougnht about it, but i didnt try, becouse i was tired at that moment  . But after read your answer, I'm getting it right now by Explorer! Thanks a lot.

considering it from an AI point : what if there are no AV holy city, no AV city, no living civ that have/had AV. and you discover the AV... you found the AV holy city.

ie : no civ has researched AV, no AV holy city on map, no AV holy city on map : therefore, AV was never founded, when s/o discovered AV again, the found the religion... it may seem strange, but not un-flavourish...

it depends how the game remembers that the religion has already been founded. does it write it somewhere as for wonders, or does it check if there is already another city with the AV religion???

if there are no 'physical' traces of it ... maybe it borks the logic)

So, you're saying if any civ who founded a religion is wiped out, it can be founded again by another civ with a new holy city?

Or just AV?

Never saw it before with any other religions, but who knows?

It was just a suggestion...

I've never seen it, never tested it and it isn't correlated with any code, 'cause I cannot read those scribbled lines....
;)
I'm just saying that it is not an issue appearing in vanilla civ, as you don't get any missionary for discovering the religious tech if your are not 1st, and you cannot remove a religion without razing all the cities.

but in FFh, you can eradicat a religion, and then search the tech.

maybe this is the cause, cumulated with some other factors :
if creation of holy city is made through 'creation of 1st city with religion'
-no city with the religion, (as you razed all those cities)

-civ XXX search the tech for AV : either :
--- no city with religion in the world --> found the religion
--- or: not founding religion; but get savant ==> spread religion in city ==> no other city in the wolrd with this religion --> holy city created...

It depends on how the code 'know' that a holy city is to be created / had already been created.
Spoiler hidden for space :

If you have time, maybe you can do some tests with WB ...
(I don't have any yet)
such as :
gifting av tech to a civ on turn 3 .
on turn 4, give you big units close to AV city, raze city.
on turn 5, give yourself 2 savant/missionary and then spread AV
see what happens.

if it does not work, same trick , on turn 4 : gift yourself big pop, many savant, academy, many gold mines... give all prerequist to AV tech. search tech as fast a possible. see what happens.

same with other religion.
this way you may know if it is a hole in the logic, or just a bug.

Cala.

edit : what I'm saying is that maybe, if you raze all cities with a given religion, and maybe the civ that discovered it first, you may be able to found the religion again if you either discover the religous tech /or spread the religion to one of your city

I have a question. How can i be sure if my FfHII 0.23 is really c (i droped path C at the folder Mods of Civ 4) ? :crazyeye:

Check the readme in your ffh folder.
If it says 0.23 c everything is fine.

Can anyone direct me to a link for FfH or FfH 2 versions compatible with vanilla only? I'm a little in over my head trying to siphon through all this information.

That's kind of cool actually. Hyborem just won't give up.

Greetings to the FFH2 community, I`m a huge fan of the mod but am having a major headache downloading 2023c.

I`ve tried four times now (on dial-up  ), tried with DAP but it downloaded a generic file and not the application, and had the same problem with the Game Flood download manager. When I try without these my download terminates before completing the download.

Can anyone help, please?

Well I cant get Game flood to give me any file at all so Im a bit bothered myself... I also tried the torrents but no1 was seeding. I even went so far as to use Internet Exploden but it didn't help.

Any ideas?

The first time I tried to download it with the GF manager it didn`t work either but I tried again and it worked second time, so try again if you havn`t already. Mine downloaded ok but it won`t load, the only way I can get it is manual download but it won`t dl the whole mod, so I`m stuck.

I did a search on this thinking I might have read something, but could not find the thread.

I am playing as Bannor for the first time in a long time and was surprised the Enforcer unit is gone. Is this because those early melee units will all become Warriors now?

I was a little surprised because I had Bloodpets in my last game and I think I saw Doviello Beastmen.

A work in progress?

Thanks.

I think that was because he looked to advanced.

I'm not sure I understand that last response.

Here are two more dumb questions:

1. Again, playing as Bannor my guys are Magic Resistant. I can understand selecting the promotions for Fire and Poison Resistance, but what units can cause Lightning and Cold damage that I need those resistances?

2. One of my cities is showing those unhappy green faces...From Features. What does this mean? I do have two floodplains (with farms) within the city's borders, but wouldn't that say "From Floodplains." What are Features? If they are floodplains, are there any other features besides those that would affect my cities' health?

Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand that last response.
The enforcert unit had grafics that looked to advanced in relation to normal warriors. So they took the enforcer unit and used the grafics for a later unit.

If they are floodplains, are there any other features besides those that would affect my cities' health?
In vanilla civ: woods for good and fallout for bad

I was wondering Whats the best game level that other players (not-human) really fight back with sorcerers and more strategic attack. I didnt see yet any sorcerer or summoner with no-humans player. My last dificult level was Prince.

The AI is never any good at fighting with magic in any version of FfH for Civ IV vanilla. They will occasionally create a fireball or something, but typically when they build arcane units (which isn't often) they attack diectly with them or (more often) just lave them in cities. However, the BtS conversion Beta uses a new, more xml-based spell system which makes the AI significantly better at magic.

Ok, so Where can I get this BtS (What does it means ?) conversion Beta ? Is it commun ? OH... I see right now on topic FfH2 BtS Conversion Beta. I didn't completly undestand and sorry my noob question, but FfH2 BtS Conversion Beta will replace FfH 0.23c ? When I say replace I mean "play this version and forget the other one". To install, i should proced as I did with FfH 0.23c, right? At first, install FfH2 BtS Conversion Beta at folder Civ Mods and than put the path r.
I think it all for now.
Thanks and sorry if i posted this in rong place.
