Frequently Asked Questions

Yep, as mervvyn said. Even though you have nature 2 you have only channeling 1,so you cant cast lvl 2 spells.

Is the node connected by a node? (also I assume you know it isn't all units, just arcane units. Priests of the leaves, for instance, would just have level one, ans melee unit wouldn't have any magical spheres)

Are you sure they don't have the second level? They can't use the second level spells anyway until they upgrade (second level spells require Sorcery/Summoning/Divine)

Are you sure they only have one? Check the promotions (mouseover)

They are adepts, so they can only CAST the level 1 spells. But as soon as you promote them to Mages/Conjurers, they should already be able to cast the Level 2 spells.

I realized what happened. MagisterCultuum was right it was my priest of leaves that i was building and i diden't realize that it was just arcane units that got the benefit i surprisingly never know that (come from the one that has read most of the civpieda and wiki):crazyeye: thx every body for throwing in their 2 cents :goodjob:

Any ETA on the use of basic spells like Spring or remove pollution (err Life I one, Sanctify) by the AI? This would help it tremendously without needing a very complex AI logic in my humble opinion.

The AI can use spring IIRC for a long time now. I am talking here about the 0.25 BtS version.

It can use also summons, Ring of Flames and other spells. Some spells were changed so the AI could comprehend them.

I hope I didn't miss this but I keep hearing people say that Ice is only for scenarios and tweaking. Does that mean that the Doviello and Illians are going to be fleshed out in a later stage of Shadow, or are they going to be improved in early Ice?

Illians, Ice mana and any chance of of a Mulcarn Religion are being done in Ice from what I gather.

Overall, Ice is being downplayed drastically from what it might really be. I know that there was a bit of an allusion to maybe adding in a "thaw" mechanism which has a countdown to bring the world out of the Age of Ice (think: Reverse Armageddon Counter). But I believe they are trying to be quiet about what will be in it so that people focus heavily on Shadow and perfecting it, instead of talking about anticipations for Ice.

I don't know about the basic spells, but I changed from Luirchuip to Basium, and at this time I had several adepts with the Spring spell enabled, and I never saw Luchuirp remove deserts.

As for the Sanctify spell, one would think it would be needed to help the AI. Apparently the poor thing never get the priority it should alas. :(

That said, the mod is excellent, but the gap between what the player can do and what the AI uses as features is becoming more extreme version after version.

Why are Larry, Moe and Curly hidden nationality units? They come so early, and have so little difficulty destroying scouts and disciples, that open borders are a sure way to level them quickly and painlessly. (Not that this isn't fun... :) )

I guess it depends on your game speed. I play Epic, and unless you really rush Cartography and Pact of the Nilhorn, they don't come that early. One thing that helps me get the Stooges is that I find the AI civs don't make the Pact a priority.

You are right that they can mow down scouts, disciples, and warriors, not to mention barb units with the Orcish promotion. However, once the Hunters, Lizardmen, Satyrs, etc. start appearing things are a little tougher for the Giants. Then, when Tier III units show up, they are really relegated to bombardment duty.

The other thing is with that HN, I find it takes a very long time for damaged Stooges to heal, especially in enemy territory. A lone, healing Curley is dead meat for just about any wandering unit. So, you must send them out in a group, and, even then, a few hunters can make short work of them. It is nice if you can get Council of Esus a produce a priest unit with Medic II to accompany them inside AI civs' borders - healing is much faster then.

I agree with you in that you can have some fun with them and get some gold with their pillaging too. :)

So wait. I just got the vanilla civ 4 the other day, and haven't installed any patches yet. What version of FfH should i get?

you might consider getting Age of Ice (includes Beyond the sword ;) ) for christmas and then FfH 0.3x for best playing pleasure ;)

Hi,when you reached AC 100 a big part of your army vanish and appear the Avatar with a very big army.
But if you defeat it and lower the counter under 100, and then raise it another time over 100 what happened?
In one of my game, I reached 100 another time, during a war, but I have loose 50% of my army, my opponement nothing, and wasn't appear another avatar.
It's a bug or not?
thanks

AC 100 only matters the first time you hit it. After that nothing else will ever happen which depends on the AC. The only reason the counter would still matter at all is if the Avatars haven't been built before it goes under 70.

I played this game with Kirian. The first time AC raise to 100 the avatar has been created and killed after some turn, with 50% of the units enlisted in his army. The second new time this happened again, the only difference is the avatar - clearly . it is not appeared.

I think there are few problems with the script covering AC and its related events...

I think you are confusing the two separate counter events.

When it hits 90 you will see the Avatar of Wrath and you will lose many of your units who become members of his barbarian army. This includes all units (living and non-living) except for heroes.

Then, when the counter hits 100 there is a second culling of your forces. This time it appears as if only living units go, including heroes. I say this because playing as Basium I do not lose any Angels.

Often in games there is not a big time difference between the two events and you could lose most of your units in short order.
