Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when you summon a skeleton with a unit over a graveyard?

Answer: You get 3x skeletons! I haven't seen if this works for spectres but I was pleasantly suprised to see this feature!

I thought I would post this here as I don't recall ever reading about that and some people may not know about it :)

The latter.

How exactly does Fear work? Say if I'm attacking the big red dragon with a non-courageous unit... does it have any chance at all to attack, or is it impossible without courage or undead or whatever?

There is a chance, but only a small one. I forget the exact formula. I believe the units' relative strengths are important.

5. If you are noticing an issue please make sure you have python popups enabled so we can see what the real error is. To enable python popups in your CivilizationIV.ini change:

Code:

; Set to 1 for no python exception popups
HidePythonExceptions = 1

To:

Code:

; Set to 1 for no python exception popups
HidePythonExceptions = 0

I had a CTD, and would like to reproduce it with this flagged, but [starts to whisper] I cannot find CivilizationIV.ini... What folder should it be in?

if you have vista it should be in this filepath: C:\Users\Joshua\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword

Just replace 'Joshua' with the username that you use.

I'm not sure about xp, but it should be someplace similar. If you still can't find it, do a search for .ini

There's also a shortcut in your BtS directory called _Civ4Config.

Quick question, is FfH2 affected by using the Unofficial 3.17 Patch by Solver?

Quick question, is FfH2 affected by using the Unofficial 3.17 Patch by Solver?

Well, Solver writes in his thread:
About mod compatibility: as a general rule, if a mod doesn't have its own CvGameCoreDll.dll file, then it's compatible with the unofficial patch, otherwise it's not.
Source: click

FfH2 has a custom DLL, which means that it will probably not run with Solver's patch installed.

I have also a totally different question for the devs: Is it possible to get hover text for the traits when you are prompted to choose one while playing a leader with adaptive trait? That would be really helpful because most people (or at least me :D ) don't have the effects of all traits present at all times. :D

uh, I installed solvers patch as well and FFH2 works just fine.

I agree on the adaptive trait thing, while xienwolf's manual helps, not everybody would have the manual.

Solver's patch can't hurt FfH (unless you put his DLL in the FfH folder) but it won't make any difference either - if like me you don't play vanilla BtS any more, then it's totally pointless as far as this mod and any others with custom DLLs are concerned.

Do haveing multiple non-mana resoureces stack their passive effects? Its hard to tell if it does.

I don't think it does, but having multiple resources is useful for trade or if you lose one through conquest/border shifts.

Mostly, yes - the Mind boost to research, Spirit boost to GPP, Earth boost to resource find chances and so on do indeed stack.

EDIT: Sorry, misread that. You mean the health and happiness from other resources? In that case, no - the same as vanilla.

This isn't realy a bug, but could something be done with the AI ALWAYS adopting Fend for Themselves? Its weird when even the GOOD civs have fend for themselves. And yet they still handout YOu treat your peaople badly- penalties.

It's probably the fact that it costs nothing, although the cost between basic care and fend for themselves at the beginning is pratically negligible.

Why isn't there espionage in FFH.

Did I miss a memo?

Edit: I see, it's still there, just automatically disabled. The joys of XML
