From Tsars to Stars:The Tale of Russia
The year is 1700, the Tsar Peter I has reigned for 18 years. Peter has conquered Sankt-Petersburg to the west and founded new Imperial Provinces to the east. But his thirst for expansion is not sated, For he also wants Finland, The Laplands, Sweden, and Norway in the west along with the riches of Siberia in the east. His overall goal is simple: The set the foundation for a Russian Empire that can stand the test of time!
In 1705, the Russians Declared war on the Swedes. For Four long years, the Imperial Cuirassiers Had Pillaged and terrorized the countrysides of Finland. Then, in 1709, Peter decided to attack the town of Khel'sinki. The battle was a major victory, soldiers from the battle would later write memoirs depicting the epic battle in all it's glory.
When Peter announced his plan to attack Khel'sinki on March 1st of 1709, the men were ecstatic. As the Imperial Tsarist Cuirassiers gathered at the city gates, they numbered around 32,000 men vs. the 8000 men behind the city walls. At dawn, Peter led a small group of men into the cities harbor in transports disguised as merchant vessels. He then silently led the men to city gates, and let the rest of army in. When we got to the Center of town, a small group of the Musket Caroleans that made up the city garrisons had just woken up in the barracks when they heard our army gallop past them. They then alerted the Caroleans that were guarding the Governor's Palace. Upon seeing the massive group of Caroleans that blocked entry to the palace, Peter sent a group of 500 Cuirassiers to do a flank attack on them to get them off balance and confuse their ranks. As the flankers approached the musket wielding Caroleans, Peter gave signal to charge. As our group met with the flankers, our horses stomped over the men and our muskets punched great holes in their line formation. The battle was over quickly, with only 50 loses for the Tsarist Army. We then marched into the palace and took over the city.-The General Feodor III in his book The Battle of Khel'sinki and Stockholm
In August of 1709, Peter was informed that the bulk of the Russian Army, 64,000 Musketmen and 32,000 Imperial Bombards, had arrived in Finland and was ready to march on the laplands. Peter decided to give the order to begin the long march on Lulea. He also sent 16,000 veteran Cuirassiers that had taken part in the battle of Khel'sinki.
"...And I'm sure this deal is acceptable to you Mrs. Catherine?"
"Huh, oh i mean yes, i will open my borders to you Sobieski"
"Thank you your Imperial Majesty."
"Also, the correct term is Ms.Catherine, as it has been since peter died"
"I'm terribly for my mistake, Ms.Catherine. Anyhoo i have to go, i have an important meeting with my advisors"
"Have a nice day Sobieski"
"Ever since Peter died 5 years ago" Catherine thought to herself "I've had to run this Damned country all by myself!"
As Catherine thought back to the Day peter died, she remembered how the military advisor had ran in with great news on his tongue about how the laplands and been captured by the russian troops with only mild casualties. She remembered how Peter had smiled ever so slightly after hearing the news, and then closing his eyes, never to open them again...
On November 7th at the Peace Conference of Berlin, Swedish nobles argued with Russian nobles over terms for the Peace Treaty. Eye witnesses from the conference report
"You are clearly losing the war, having lost two whole provinces, and we demand we get something out of this treaty!" demanded a Short and slightly obese russian noble
"Whilst i see your point" said a rather pale and skinny swedish commander " We do not have very much that we can give you. However, we are willing to give a map of the known world along with 10 gold kronas to end the war"
"That deal will be acceptable" responded Catherine, who had just walked into the conference room.
"But your Imperial Majesty-"
"I think it is a fair deal,my little noble, and i think it would be in your best interests to agree"
The little noble's cheeks flushed with anger as he said "This deal is an insult to our country, as are you Catherine, then again, what should i expect when we have a prussian woman in charge of the greatest empire since rome."
He was then chased out of the conference room by russian guards, and was later hanged for his insults to the Tsarina.
In 1754, 13 years after the coronation of Tsarina Elizabeth of russia(and the death of Catherine of Russia), the Imperial army sent a group of 32,000 men to launch an invasion to weaken ottoman power on the black sea. Elizabeth heard of this plan on the day of the invasion and said the words "For the glory of the empire, may your losses be few and may the wind be at your backs"
At that same time, the germans were complaining about a long aqueduct which went from the watering hole in denmark to a lake near stockholm. They claimed that the swedes were stealing their water. The swedes claimed the germans were stealing their water. It turns out the aqueduct was actually a very long slippin' slide
In 1778(author's note: shouldn't that be 1776?) the british colonies in america declared independence from england in the name of democracy. Starting one of the first revolutionary wars that would be fought for a 'modern' ideology(i.e. communism, democracy, and autocracy).
In 1784, Catherine II, also known as Catherine the Great, launched a massive attack on Stockholm. The attack was a failure and had several casualties, but it also weakened up the defenders just enough that the newly devoloped Cossacks would have an easy time taking not only stockholm, but all of sweden and norway...
