In light of recent events...

(Note: not an official SatW.)

Well, obviously. That's repainted King Europe, not Belgium.

Though, considering that in SatW, Belgium is nerdy and America is, well, not particularly athletic but certainly big and strong, making a comic about Belgium beating America at sports would probably be funny...

I was on IOTchat when the match ended, and the above picture is an accurate portrayal of the Yanks' reaction. Minus the string of cursing.

it's funny, belgium isn't even a proper country.

Time for a comic.

^Not really; it is split in at least two parts (flemish-dutch/waloon) and very little ties it together. If the EU was not there it likely would have already split by now, and maybe its parts joining Netherlands and France.

There are lots of countries with independence movements and semi-autonomous regions. That doesn't make them less of a country.

Belgium might not be a nation-state, but it's obviously a country, and had been so for more than a hundred years before the Treaty of Rome.

yeah yeah, but deep in your hearts, i think you all know belgium isn't really a proper country.

thank you, i'm perfectly aware of belgium's little situation. i can even tell you that your assumption that the eu has something major to do with its non-division is wrong and that your second assumption is rather ludicrous although quite understandable for someone who hasn't had close contact with belgians.

there are other countries which consist of different 'nations', as much as i hate to use that word, and they too have not split yet. it is not impossible to hold a country together in that situation, although the mid-term trend in belgium has been regrettably towards confederalism.

i'm going to ignore this by labelling it as 'humour leaning towards the spectrum of irony, sarcasm and satire'.

Translation:

Title: New Memorandum age (a play on the Pleistocene period).

First part: You are late!
Second part: I was trying to find a place to park.
Third part: You should visit your doctor again; evidently you still are reliving/imagining your past age.

Not just that ;) He is accused of living in the past when he had a car, but his supposed new reality is to live in the pleistocene period, a past infinitely before the time he had a car (before the pay cuts).

Our national football team (especially when they're playing well) and our love for beer and good food in general :-)

If the EU was not there it likely would have already split by now, and maybe its parts joining Netherlands and France.
No part of Belgium will ever join the Netherlands. Period.

The strangest thing about Belgium (compared to other federal states with semi-autonomous regions), is that there are no national newspapers, no national televion stations and no national political parties.
