Would sending a paratrooper for this one worth it?

Put a city outside the mountains, and let the cultural borders take the GH.

But how are you going to send a paratrooper during the Iron Age? Shoot him from a catapult?

How funny would it be to waste a paratrooper to check it out and the villagers were hostile?

My first thought was to WorldBuilder a scene just like that, put the paratrooper on the village, and place modern armor on every peak around it with the correct caption. :D

Alas, I am too lazy. :(

Without the river to connect it to the outside world, getting a settler from it would be almost as worthless.

In this sort of situation I'd feel perfectly justified to use the WB to fix map generation silliness. I mean, how did those tribals get there? A river can flow through the mountain, but a scout can't paddle a boat through?

P.S. I see aluminum, but you are still in the iron age?

I thought that was marble?

I miss Civ3. Mountains

btw: my first thread in this forum, dating back 4 years. Please don't bump it, even though I think it's still relevant to this topic at hand.

Too bad that in Civ5 they continued with the trend of making them impassable and useless. :(

But... there is a river there...

For the last dozen or so turns, this barb galley has been chasing my exploring work boat. Last turn, I finished teching Astronomy ... now I am off after deep water marlin - and that galley can go hang :D

Not only did the knowledge automatically spread to the exploring fishermen, but it upgraded their boat as well.

This is the point where you just pray that the Galleys are nice barbarians that don't care about your defenseless fishing ship. That, or the fishing ship secretly has the ability to transform into a destroyer.
