Funny Screenshots: Part Deux

What are you talking about? Coastal tiles typically yield 2 commerce, ocean tiles 1.

So ...

Coastal yield = 2 (normal yield) + 1 (colossus) + 1 (financial) + 1 (golden age) = 5
Ocean yield = 1 (normal yield) + 1 (colossus) + 1 (financial) + 1 (golden age) = 4

EDIT: Argh! Don't read this. Really. Well, unless you want to read something funny in the "stupid things can be funny" sense of the word.

OK, so in the screen shot why do the coastal plots in the Korean territory yield 3 commerce and ocean plots yield 1?

The Koreans are getting 1 and 3 for ocean and coast, he is getting 4 and 5 for a difference of +3 and +2 respectively. There is nothing in vanilla/Warlords/BtS Civ4 that will give the yield situation seen in the screenshot, as far as I can recall.

So, like I said: he's using a mod. It has weirdness related to ocean and coastal plot yields. Rather than something odd with his yields, perhaps it is something odd with the Koreans who are getting +1 to coastal from somewhere without getting +1 to ocean. Or perhaps the default for the mod is that coastal plots give 3, so it is back to something he has that is giving +1 to ocean plots but not coastal or -1 to coastal but not ocean. It doesn't matter - any way you slice it, it is still Mod brand bread. If it has weird coast and/or ocean plot yields, why not a pikeman that can walk across peaks?

Wang is Financial thus why the 3\1 split on his Coast and Ocean.

Wilem has Colossus and is Financial and is in a Golden Age thus the 5\4 split for them.

Yeah, I know...

Funny story (more or less): After posting that, I went out to dinner. Sitting there eating, there was an ESPN show on the TV at the place. They were showing a program entitled something like "101 Biggest Sports Hotdogs" about athletes celebrating things they did, usually way too much. They had just shown a series of clips where they had celebrated so much they hurt themselves - a guy does a flip and hurts his back, another one is jumping around and hurts his knee, and so on. After they cut away to the commentators and/or commercials my mind drifts back to this thread and it suddenly hits me:
"Korea... Wang Kon... Financial... I am such a moron. A lot like the guys I just watched do stupid things to themselves." I actually laughed out loud a little. Well, chuckled a bit anyway. I may have even giggled.

You see, the entire time I had been thinking "Tokugawa". A.K.A. The Guy With No Trait That Is Even Slightly Useful Financially. I was even a bit surprised that he had open borders with the player when they were neighbors since T. makes that difficult. Yep. I'm a moron.

So you can ignore anything I've said about this. It is easily possible to get those yields without a mod.

In Soviet Russia, bombers shoot down fighters!

What confuses me more is how Monty has control of America in RFC... did America collapse?

I had a earth game where Monty nearly took out FDR, had to save him myself.

Right, now that we've cleared that up let me point out he is using a mod. Here's how I can tell . . .

I also like how Arpinum and Canterbury are combining forces to build . . .

Jack the Ripper
  • 4:strength:, 2:move:
  • Unique Unit for the English Empire
  • Replaces Serial Killer
  • Targets any Nurse in tile
  • +25%:espionage: when fortified in a city
  • -50% Attack vs. cities with Scotland Yard
  • No defensive bonuses
  • May not capture cities

Jack the Ripper, nasty.

In that case there's hope I was playing with Espionage off
Just build the Uber Nurse Unit:

10 :strength: vs. psychopaths
+5  from secret Haldol weapon.
+2 :health: from just being around
+50 :culture: when entrenched in Mall
Can capture exclusive fashions

You forgot, +5 :) from designer shoe sale.

And that is why I like building Death Rays, which have +1000% :strength: vs. Everything.

except small fighters that typically target swamp rats.

That's Death Stars you're thinking of. I'm talking about Death Rays.

I'm betting the architects of that building were evil supergeniuses who decided to melt a bunch of tourists as part of an evil scheme to do... something.

Holy Enfante Terrible, Batman!

For those of you who don't get the joke: look at the leaderhead, then the message, repeat, and let the whole thing sink in.
