Ok LM, wanna explain that one? I've never had that happen in all the years i've been playing BTS.
I can do that :
First you need Christianity (important)
If you then rename one of your GG to Richard Lionheart, then join him with knights.
Then you make a HUUUUGE SOD of knights/trebs/pikemen (I think its around 40+ units) and ship them to the civ that founded Islam.
After u pillage 90 tiles you have succeded the quest. If you manage to keep Jerusalem there is an extra bonus, though if it is Saladin that founded Islam, this is almost impossible....
@Vincentz: I think Damerell was referring to the fact that he could have settled the little island for a bonus trade route instead of his city being culture pressed severely in the middle of the desert.
^^Just don't leave them too long in the snow... look what happened to Monty's heffalump in Doshin's game![]()
Ooh, that's surely going to take lots of worker turns...It's OK. I'm pretty sure we have sheepies too; we'll knit them all wooly underthings.
we just secured a source of heffalumps
Their effectiveness is vastly increased if you can also acquire a source of woozles.
They're known to set false tracks.I do agree, and we tried tracking down some woozles with this idea in mind... but they proved mysteriously elusive, for all that their footprints were clear.
Interesting that Oblivion and Civ4 are both the 4th in their series and that very similar complaints are being made by the respective fanbases about the 5th games in both series. One common factor, of course, is the rise of the console market affecting old-established PC game franchises. Though - and I haven't played it yet - I get the feeling that Skyrim isn't anywhere near as disastrous as Civ5.
Having said that, I'm happy to play straight BtS with just BAT/BUG, though I do like the odd modded game. On the other hand, no way can I imagine playing vanilla TES4 without heaps and heaps of mods, IMO you can't turn the clock back once you've gone that route with Oblivion.
Actually from what I've seen most people prefer either Morrowind or Skyrim the 3rd and 5th games in the series.
In this context, most definitelySo, basically, Elder Scrolls is the opposite of Civilization?
So, basically:
Morrowind = Civ2
Oblivion = Civ3
Skyrim = Civ4
I didn't feel any railroading. You can go wherever you want on the map and do whatever you want as usual. Maybe those Oblivion fans never got through the tutorial part?Right! Now I have to go get Skyrim because I can't comment further without playing it. Bah, thanks for that.
Earlier comments, by the way, were just to report what some of the (mostly Oblivion) fanbase have said about Skyrim. I've seen the same accusations of unnecessary streamlining and railroading the player that we've seen WRT Civ5, so I felt there might be an analogy. In the case of Civ5, these are true IMO. But I should make up my own mind about TES5...
So, basically:
Morrowind = Civ2
Oblivion = Civ3
Skyrim = Civ4
