I was fooling around with an isolated start as Zara. Ideally I wanted everyone to hate each other and warring constantly to slow down the tech rate. With optics I find that screamer of a diplo situation and with myself being so backwards I thought of abandoning the game right there.

Wow, nobody hating Shaka with "-21 You declared war on us" ? Something went wrong in that game. I don't think he cares that much for shared religion, he usually attacks someone no matter what.
I just love to read the diplo screen when I find another continent with Monty and Shaka far away, and everybody being like "-27 You declared war on us like every two years for ages !" with these two, or to each other. They just can't help it.

Usually, nothing stops Shaka.
Seriously, I've seen ridiculous diplo modifiers between warmongers left alone on a landmass. They just need to declare war, they don't know anything else, and Shaka is the master of the style.

What is dangerous about Shaka is that he actually knows how to build an empire. Monty, on the other hand WILL declare no matter what. I've had him DoW me and only send in 1-2 Warriors and so I waited... Nothing more. He just NEEDS to be at war. That would explain that his power is always diminished by the medieval era.CivIVMonger

I know, he can become very poweful indeed... Most bloodthirsty warlords in this game will just mindlessly attack you no matter what the cost. (Depends on difficulty though.)

I actually think I would prefer that situation to finding both Gandhi and Mansa Musa on the hidden continent, who shared a religion, and both thought that sharing every tech they got with each other was an awesome idea.
