[GS] Future Update?

Any bets on whether we get any sort of official civ- related news sometime this week?

If there's no more official content coming, can't they at least drop a final bug-fix patch? And if there is, won't they have to say something soon? But I've gotten rather pessimistic about any particular week being the week....

My money is nothing until E3 ... than all hopes for 3rd expansion, but probably some sort of spin-off .... long and dark times ahead of us ... maybe some small patch in month, or two

Good Morning Winter Updaters! Welcome to another week of this thread being fully pointless as we discuss nonexistent communication!

Honestly I feel bad for the moderators. How can you keep a discussion "on topic" when all "on topic" info was beaten to death months ago?

Carry on our wayward sons.

Today I saw a bird fly in a funny way, I read It's path and then a gust of wind whispered......"civ" and then I knew,.... Firaxis radio silence is getting on my nerves.

I usually hop from 4x to 4x depending on the mood or what's new, (It also helps on keeping games fresh) Stellaris was that for me but the performance issues have made that one unplayable. Been thinking about reinstaling civ 5 or even 4 to get my fix

I don't really play other games. But (in preparation for the new patch/exp/whatever) I'm working on changing the two prong outlet by my computer to three. My apartment has pretty old wiring, but I just found out the outlets are grounded so I should be able to do it. It'll be better than running an extension cord across the room to the kitchen for sure; and also better than calling the landlord, as last time I did that I had no ceiling in my bathroom for three months.

So either either I'll be ready to go for new Civ content, or I'll have electrocuted myself because I have no mechanical aptitude whatsoever. Either way, the wait is soon over.

Currently playing eu4 Ottomans campaign which will take a while. My plans for the foreseeable future are playing 3-4 full campaigns of Hoi4 when the expansion hits the 25th of februari.
So far my civ 6 life have been put on hibernation mode. Untill there is something substantial on the horizon. Like at least a good medium sized patch which features something cool like a naval overhaul.
Even if a third expansion announcement pops up. Which by my estimate still below 50% chance if ever happening. There still will be 3-4 months of waiting time.
So back to minimal effort lurking mode for civfanatics and tantrums tweets on social media.
I`m still hoping firaxis will positively surprise me but i feel let down since November. I feel like the civ development team is working at 50% capacity at this point. Focussing on other projects which would explain current pace.

There's one Civ VI game in progress I may finish, but otherwise yeah I'll focus on PDX games or non-strategy for the foreseeable future.

I accepted that Firaxis won't announce anything anytime soon, so I just started my next Civ VI game as the Aztecs. First time giving deity a try, I planned to take out my first neighbor fast and go on conquering non-stop, a way more aggressive playstyle than I'm used to. First neighbor was Gilgamesh , followed by Gandhi, so I had to cut through a parade of deity war-carts and Varus. Thank god for Matterhorn, right between me and Gilgamesh. That +3 strength and better movement saved me.

Once I'm done with this game, I'll just start another as Georgia, diplo victory. I want to test if I can force Aid requests to happen by making sure the AI has the 30 favors they need to ask for a special congress session. I take a looong time to finish my games, I'll probably finish both before anything is announced. I lost my optimism.

Considering I have no hope for there being another expansion (and if there is, it'll probably be post-Humankind release), I've gone back to Civ 4 and started testing out some mods. Neoteric World seems like a good one

On a side note: We are now 38 days from Spring.

Great! Only 38 more possible days of pointless speculation on a Winter Update before we can switch to a Spring Update Spurious Speculation Thread.

2 months without any change to the depots on steamDB, is that a record ?

Would that mean they've just changed the way they test builds, or that they're currently working on something completely different ?
