The Boston Marathon is now scheduled for September 14th. I don't know if that effects future expansions but it would give Ed more time right now to work on them.
It still doesn't tell us there isn't a single large expansion coming. A second DLC could still be something like:
- A pre-order bonus, packaged separately like the Aztec Civ;
- Game's Soundtrack or other digital extras like Art, etc;
- An Advanced Map Maker, which requires subscription to a Free DLC for it to download?
We expected them to break the custom with third expansion and they were planning 3rd and 4th one at once this whole time!
Such efficiency, many production, too busy.
I'm putting a jar of honey and a can of gasoline (valid trade-items when this comes out) on a Free DLC (like the Cat Scout) and a paid DLC/Expansion for the second Depot.
I like AntSou's suggestion of Worldbuilder as DLC, because that could be huge in size in final version, and not everybody would like to make maps.
Can only hope for a bug-fix patch, a small free DLC with some extra stuff, and a huge DLC with complete modtools, worldbuilder, DLL, etc.
Moderator Action: Again, please do NOT use the word confirmed unless Firaxis puts something out and, in fact, it confirms something associated with Civ6. Many people breeze in to see what has changed, see that and then go looking for what is confirmed. They will never find it because it was a joke. It is not funny to those that go looking. So please STOP using it.
while working from home isn't as productive as in the office, i would imagine they can still get a lot done from home. All you need is a file sharing program. You can still do meetings via various programs. You can still test builds. Perhaps with things being slower, it will give them more time to test and feel things out. Never a bad thing in what is a crunch time industry.
Here in Washington State they just ordered all restaurants and bars closed "for the duration". That should remove a lot of distractions from the workforce and make game development even faster, shouldn't it?
I'm actually thinking we can contact the CDC/DHS/state and local reps about this. We are in lock down with coronavirus and its irresponsible, nay, IMMORAL, for Firaxis to not release content at a time when we need it more than ever. This is a matter of national security! Riots in the streets, toilet paper hoarding, and hand sanitize raids can all be avoided if we are all kept happy and contented with new Civ 6 content and I don't know why Firaxis is acting in such an inhumane manner with no new information. We're already starting a change.org petition to get this addressed, please join me in applying pressure here. Its our job to encourage folks to adopt safety protocols from the CDC, especially social distancing....and that means more Civ 6!
How likely is it that Ed read that there was another topic once upon a time with more pages than this one and just created a new depot to get more pages of speculation?
