How likely is it that Ed read that there was another topic once upon a time with more pages than this one and just created a new depot to get more pages of speculation?
So, Ed Beach is familiar with the Pandemic board game. That's not surprising, but here you go:

Well, we obviously aren't dealing with one single thing anymore.
Options:
2 standard DLCs
2 mini Expansions
1 expansion and 1 DLC of indeterminate size
Including James VI who could also come as alt leader of England, Eleanor-style.eight different alt leaders for scotland
A Worldbuilder as a DLC would surprise me, if it's internal there is no reason to change the current implementation, it "just" need to be completed, and if it become external, then it would be a part of the existing Development Tools DLCIt still doesn't tell us there isn't a single large expansion coming. A second DLC could still be something like:
- A pre-order bonus, packaged separately like the Aztec Civ;
- Game's Soundtrack or other digital extras like Art, etc;
- An Advanced Map Maker, which requires subscription to a Free DLC for it to download?
Something along these lines was actually the first thing that came to my mind. An alternate release branch of the code with Plagues removed. Although I doubt a full depot would be needed for that, especially since last i heard the first one (Runner) was still empty.1 intended expansion, and then said expansion with the plague mechanic removed for the time being (to be released for free or paid at a later date)?

It would be cool, but not likely, and honestly years too late.A Worldbuilder as a DLC would surprise me, if it's internal there is no reason to change the current implementation, it "just" need to be completed, and if it become external, then it would be a part of the existing Development Tools DLC
depends on your job and situation. At home you have no one really looking over your shoulder. No one to "keep" you working. You might have some conferences online or some points where you have to check in with how you are doing, but otherwise you are fairly free. There are a lot of things in ones home that can distract you.(like playing civ...) At the same time, it is more relaxing, and you can work at your own pace. I work from home. There are times where i just dont feel like getting much done so i spend the day playing various games like civ. There are other times i go days or weeks without playing many games. I don't work a normal 8 hour day. I tend to work in a few hour spurts. I come back a little later and pick up where i left off. I can only sleep 3-4 hours at a time, so i work between those "naps".Here in Washington State they just ordered all restaurants and bars closed "for the duration". That should remove a lot of distractions from the workforce and make game development even faster, shouldn't it?

Now with a game like CIv, i think working from home wouldn't be that bad. You spend your day making a new feature or bug fixing, then playing a ton of Civ testing it out. You go to the files and make a few tweaks. merge any changes. Talk to other coworkers discussing the various changes. They would probably have better tools than us at home to make changes quickly.
New free update along with paid DLC for Stellaris out today, for those who are unaware.
Should keep me well distracted until a Civ announcement is made.
[/quote]Codename Plaid reminds me of plaid-wearing Boudicca like in Civ 5. (I know it wasnt historical..)
I am aware. Already bought the stellaris expansion. Just to busy with hearts of iron 4 to make time for stellaris since 25 feb
It is on my to do list. Civ 6 will go first when a new patch or dlc reaches us with at least 1 big interesting overhaul or exiting new feature.
Back to the speculation side of things, now that we have speculated further, that this might be two small DLCs, maybe even adding new mechanics, the names "Runner" and "Plaid" may be hints at who the new Civs are, if we are getting them.
Plaid could be a Celtic civ and runner is still out there.
So much free time confined at home right now... and GameCore modding is still locked.It would be cool, but not likely, and honestly years too late.
I'm not sure if civ VI is really more intuitive than EL, but it's much easier to comprehend because it's based on history and you've probably played a civ game before. At least for me that's why I always take some time to learn other 4Xs, even the non-historical Beyond Earth, that is a FXS game. Yet, you can do ok and know most mechanics in EL after 50 hours of just playing, especially if you do not change factions all the time, while for some PDS titles...I've been trying to get into Endless Legend as it's been so highly recommended, but I've run into the same problem I always have with Paradox games--the tutorial is useless (and often built for the vanilla game version), nothing is explained, the game is riddled with typos/lack of polish, and I lose interest. I've stopped trying to get into Paradox games because I just can't get past the entry barrier. (Though I have a friend who recommends Stellaris...) At least with EL it's a 4X game, but there's still little explanation. I'm going to give it one more chance, but basically every time I play a non-Firaxis 4X or grand strategy game, it dramatically increases my appreciation for the simplicity, elegance, and polish of Firaxis's work.
I don't have the time (except maybe right now) or the interest to spend hours getting into a game with Youtube videos or fan guides. (Also, the Paradox expansion model is really frustrating too.) For someone like me, the FXS games are the perfect balance of strategy, depth, and polish.
Again, I respect people who like these games, and I know why they are loved, but the barrier to entry is just way too high for me (and I think many others).
