The Kadanoff: Discovery of a new species
The Governmental structure of the Kadanoff was, until quite recently, not unified into one structure. This unity was brought about when the shear breadth of alien life and, more importantly, the scale of alien activity was understood. The meeting with the Mejani had lead to a shocking revelation and prompted the remaining power blocs to work on unification, dragging with them the last few neutral states.
Prior to the unity, the peoples of these states being separated by minor differences and inertia. There had been no reason to change and anyway, it was generally agreed that the competing ideas on governmental structure, interactions with the economy and society was a good thing. The people had become one long before. Their tinkering with their genetics had been the door, and the requirements of spreading throughout space had done the rest.
So it was that the Kadanoff united in a Representative Federation, The Unity, an attempt to capture the flexibility of interactions and ideologies but also to streamline it in the face of their neighbours. With it came an initial period of streamlining, removing duplicated efforts and bringing expertise together and giving it funding. It was this new government that gave out the contracts for the construction of a vast Space-Dock turning the system of
Sparo [1] into a vast network of industries and docks able to churn out the most technologically advanced spaceships the Kadanoff had produced to date. It was these docks that helped to form the core of the Kadanoff space capabilities. It was these initiatives that lead to a great drive in space exploration.

First entry into the Second stage of the KK Project {KKPROJ}. Testing new specifications on Advanced Analysis Algorithms {AAA} on the Scout Drones {KK241}. Aims of this project are to improve the in situ ability of these drones to correctly identify systems that could be habitable to the Kadanoff. The difficulty has been allowing a wide enough range of parameters to account for bioengineering. Other improvements have been made to improve the ability of the drones to identify anomalous data and alert scout teams to the need for inspection by a live team. The Unity Military Command has allowed my team this stretch of space {ID:14158} to further this project.

Second stage has been continuing at a good pace {KKPROJ/DATA}, the AAA could be improved a bit but otherwise things are occurring as expected. No garden systems of course, a number of marginals that will be checked out, but at most they would consist of mining operations {Geoengineering}. There have been a few reports of anomalous systems. Decided to leave a skeleton crew to analyse the Drones incoming data. Everyone else has been tasked a list of systems to analyse, including myself.
It will be good to explore more of the galaxy, it is after all what got me into this job!

Yesterday I was complaining that there was nothing to these anomalous system reports, now THIS {Ship Data Stream/631}.
That black hole must have been eating the star here for at least 415 MSt [2]. Even more unbelievably there is a planet orbiting this binary system! It is, of course, not native to the system. The surface is cracked and has a minor atmosphere.
The weird thing is that the AAA didn't see this at all, indeed, it thought this was the most boring of the systems seen. Good that [REDACTED] managed to input a check even for that! This system certainly has uses, researchers would die to get a closer look to this system!

[1] It is of course easier to build new stuff in a new place than to replace an industry and infrastructure in an old one!
[2] Standardised time. For a species that like to bioengineer, the sleep patterns etc required are all different, throw in space travel and different planets and time quickly becomes standardised to some useful number...
More later...maybe
