Game Tracking Thread

I`m not sure what the ruling is here. I had agreed to play the next set up to turn 100. We are there now. Since Civ V was released there is no one else left on the team anymore. Is there a way you can make an AI take over or something perhaps. There is no one left to even continue the pitboss game for Mavericks.

As soon as I saw this I'd immediately sign on for a pause request for the admins and discussion. Just speaking as a player but that seems fair; did not know about the situation but for everyone I think this should be resolved before play continues.

As the current turnplayer for Sirius, I will voice my support for a pause while this is sorted out. Especially since we made a declaration of war against Team Mavericks just this turn.

Alright, we did a little bit of discussion with a couple other teams. Please capitulate Mavericks over to Team Sirius.

Thanks.

Is the Vassal State option turned on for this game? IIRC vassalage was not enabled for this game. If my memory serves, then I dont get what you mean by "capitulate."

If you mean capitulate in-game and become a Vassal State:eek:, then... OK:dubious:... if the game allows it then I guess go ahead:mischief:... but that still does not solve the problem of who is actually going to play the turns for the Mavs...

Or are you going to capitulate in-game and then "Retire" to AI? What am I missing?

Lastly, if Vassalage is not enabled, then we still need clarification on the whole "capitulate to Sirius" thing, since "capitulation" is not really possible...

We really just need a pause.;) to sort this all out. I'm not sure this can be quickly sorted out in a private conversation between "a couple teams."

Edit: (Since my original post was somewhat rambling)

1. Vassalage is not enabled. I presume this means that scenarios that replicate the effects of vassalage (i.e. the wholesale gifting of cities) are probably also not allowed.

2. Based on our team discussions of Mavericks original offer, Sirius would refuse the gifting of cities since we didn't think it would be allowed, we did not want such an action to potentially damage our relations with other teams, and we were about to declare war on Mavericks anyway.

3. We would prefer an outcome that allows the game to proceed as it was before this development.

Yeah, Sommerswerd, I think vassals are disabled; AI wouldn't change that game option. And believe it was pretty well understood by the admins pre-game, and also with what's written in the game rules, that mass-city-gifting is not allowed; at the very least that would require admin decision too. Regrettable situation for the Maverick team and sorry to see it if you're out of things but I personally still think this needs a pause and discussion of course.

There will be no AI takeover. Mavericks will just be inactive until they are conquered or find a turn player.
Are you sure? The AI would at least put up a fight. Letting a civ sit dormant is probably more unbalancing. You're the admin though, and I haven't been much involved in this game over the past few months, so I'll leave it to you. Just thought I'd add my two cents. ;)

AI would be more fair for the game as a whole.

3. We would prefer an outcome that allows the game to proceed as it was before this development.

Is that even possible, short of convincing obsolete to continue?

The other solutions (inactive or AI) effectively means the map has now become unbalanced as one end of it has a big lump of free space (or weak AI that might as well be free space).

I've always also been curious about the "no city gifting" rule, as presumably marching all your troops to one border and telling your other neighbour "here's a map of our undefended cities, please take them" can't be prevented. (Though I'm not suggesting Mavericks would do that.)

How about allowing Merlot to take over Maverics civ as well.

We are fighting a 1vs4 so that would make it 2vs4 still hopeless but at least we will not let the cities to be taken without resistance.

It would be fine if a Merlot turnplayer left the team to take over Mavericks, or Merlot recruited someone outside the game to play.

But we already voted not to allow multiple civs per team. ;)
