We are pleased to provide $2000 in initial funds and $2000 in following quarters [turns?] for the development of Ferret Wars, that is if you wish to go ahead with the project for the Takk. We ask the game be designed exclusively for our console, however this is negotiable.

We will provide the game engine and all source code from our Blob Wars game [OOC: if Lucky allows] to aid your development (however we retain copyright and will not allow such assets to be sold or given to third parties).

We would also like to have a small say in the project. Specifically we would like to see more random weirdness and diverse sub-games than the original rough proposal. However in general we are pleased with the concept.

Sincerely,
Sven Landerson
Head of Digi Forge Corporation

We are very pleased with the design document for Nothomework Adventures and we express our extreme interest. However we understand that you have begun work on a project by the name of School Wars this quarter, and therefore you will not be able to start work immediately on the Nothomework Adventures project [OOC: assuming that rule remains unchanged]. Therefore we cannot provide any funding at this time.

We are anxious for any sponsored project to begin immediately. However, if your company wishes to go ahead with Nothomework Adventures at a future date, then we will be willing to discuss funding at that time. We remain interested in the concept.

Sincerely,
Sven Landerson

Internet 'leak' from Digi Forge: Handheld console to be announced after talks with partner companies! And orders sent to Luckmoose! Story to appear tommorrow!

To: Sven Landerson, Head of Digi Forge Corporation
From: Isaac Hayden

We greatly appreciate your aid in our new game. We agree to your terms and will make the game Takk exclusive. And as the obvious differences of styles between Ferret Wars and GENOA are significant, your source codes for Blob Wars will help immensly as well. We will start developing more ideas for many more sub-games and "randomness" as well. The Ferret Wars was a dough draft and will be very flexible to work with. Also, if you would, please send us one of your Takk Console. We will also keep you up to date with its development. The document attached is our official contract for this project. Please read them over, sign, and mail it to our company as soon as you can. We will get started right away.

//
Digest Version of Document:

1. Hayden Games will hold all the intellectual proprietorship of the game.

2. If, for any reasons, should the funding cease, Hayden Games have the right to sell Ferret Wars as another console exclusive.

3. In case of #2 in effect, Hayden Games will not return the funds already received.

4. Hayden Games will receive 50% (negotiable if Digi Forge believe to deserve more) of all profits made from the sale relating to that of Ferret Wars.

5. All the programs and source codes used for Ferret Wars will remain undistributed or unsold to any other companies.

"You know... I hear Dreamsoft started some kind of internship program for college students."
"And are you about to tell me that it's a good idea and we should do the same?"
"Yes."
"And so we shall as well. We do need more programmers to finish the AI engine."
"Get Silas to work on it. I'm not doing it, and he has nothing better to do."
"I think what he's doing is resting. And he needs it more than you. He just arrived last week."
"Or get Eugene or something."
"You know what? I'll do it. Geez."
"Oh by the way, how did the AAE go?"
"Fine. They liked our game, and they expect it to be out soon because of the demo."
"I thought we just finished concept arts."
"Apparently, one of our employees had more than enough time to whip one up."
"Does he deserve a raise? Or promotion?"
"A pink slip."
"Ouch."
"I know we won't be done by end of summer, and we don't want to disappoint the customers either. He's gone for being stupid. But I'll make sure to give him a sum of money for his work."
"But either way, we need more employees to get this project moving."
"I know. That's why I said yes to your internship idea. Or if that's not enough, we'll have to hire more people. And I think I will raise their pay a bit and make employee refrigerator for icecreams. That'll motivate them to work harder."
"I get a raise for the proposal."
"It's your money too anyways."
"Yeah, I know."

The office was full of happy people. Who wouldn't be? Free icecreams in workplace. Most of the programmers stayed in the office late, working, and eating icecreams. There were only two flavors - no, three; green tea icecream (for extra caffeine) was added - but that wasn't a problem. Raith sighed at the sight. It was Isaac's best idea. Now the media people were here again. They were eating icecream too. Larger crowd than before. And more icecreams. Maybe he'll add some buffalo wings at next conference.

"Will GENOA be released at the end of summer?" asked one of the reporters with an eager face.

Hayden frowned a bit, but smiled, "No, I regret to inform you that GENOA will not be done anytime this year. I will not make any promises about its release, but I will let you know as soon as we are certain."

"But what about the released demo?" he insisted.

"Well, that is what we have so far, and we will work to make it better. I promise you that GENOA will be much better than the demo you've experienced. Better graphic, interface, cut scenes, and even enhanced game play. We won't disappoint you."

"We heard you were making a new game," asked another.

"Why, yes," replied Isaac, "It is called Ferret Wars, although we might change the title. Digi Forge offered us an opportunity for another game development."

"Won't this delay GENOA or use up the funds? Do you think Hayden Games can handle two games at the same time?"

"I do not plan on delaying GENOA at all. In fact, we are hiring more programmers and have started internship program as Dreamsoft had done to meet the labor demands. Also, Digi Forge will supply us with some of their technology and money to help us make the game. It will be, as you might have guessed, Takk exclusive. If you are wondering the concept of Ferret Wars, please refer to the second page of the paper you've received on your arrival."

"We thought you made a contract with Karui Kiba."

"We did. And for GENOA only. We will make games for any corporations. We do not make games to make money. We make games for the sake of making enjoyable games. We hope to work with both corporations in the future. However, we have our morals, and none of the corporations' technologies will be used in each others' exclusive games."

Isaac looked at the clock. Twelve O'clock sharp. It's been 23 minutes; he started at 11:37 AM. More stream of questions... he answered them dutifully as the hours snailed on. He blamed the green tea.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Few days later...

The website of HaydenGames was filled with application emails. Isaac read them over carefully, with all the extra time he had, which was very much, and selected 20 candidates for an interview. Only 15 will be admitted. Now, Isaac found himself in his office, talking to the first applicant.

"Welcome to Hayden Games," he finally said to the first applicant, "You will work with us for an entire year. And you get access to our refrigerator."

@NK: Yes. Only one new game a turn. Max of 3 unfinished games.

Curses! Foiled again!

Ribbons, Webpages, and Chair-spinning

Due to the law of circumstance, when something happens, people are usually in the habit of discussing it. Thus we find Aiko Sakurada a few days ago with her hair in an unholy tangle of strands (since there is one for every successive day and since today happened to be a Sunday there were seven sort of kinks in her hair, tied together by some pink ribbons that didn't know what they were doing there and didn't particularly want to be there).

"Ne, Kenta."

"Yes?" It was always "Yes?" with this guy. You could look at him and you could tell he was never the type to just say "Yeah"; no, it was always uptight and formal.

"I heard that a few companies were offering internships and stuff."

"That they are; Dreamsoft first began, then Hayden Games followed suit."

"Ah, sou ka. Hmmm."

Kenta kept silent; it wasn't his job to speak and anyway he was too busy trying to trace the outlines of her hair.

"Feh!"

"Pardon me?"

"Internships. I thought it was standard in most companies like this."

"Yes."

"Oh good. We do do those too, right?"

"But of course."

A spiffy webpage went up.

ATTENTION:
Do you want work in one of the Big Three? Do you have qualifications? Well, the Karui Kiba Corporation is looking for you! We won't require anything specific from you. We want people who can work and who know things. So if you think you have a talent that can be put to good use, come on down and we'll hook you up!

Flyers were distributed. Special tech magazines received ads, as did such nerdy sites as Slashdot.

It would be excellent.

Katsu Nagato was in a dark room. That is to say, although the room was brightly lit, it was a bit too small for his tastes and there was just an aura of darkness. This is because of the work he was doing. The Public Relations Manager often has a sort of miasma around him, almost like he lies for a living, although to be fair, his job is more of a 50-50 combination of lies and truth.

What he was doing was he was putting the final touches on the underground campaign.

Taggers were poised in major cities. They would graffiti on "The LC" on random buildings. He had cleared it all with the police by filing his request under "Murals". He had a nice website set up about the features of the Light Complex.

The Light Complex is a high-tier system designed with the gamer in mind. Its focus on putting the gamer first puts it above par with all the other comparative consoles on the market...

And lastly he was about to "leak" something to the press. He had his man, Sasuke Tanaka. He was the man he counted on to "leak" stories. His leak was a simple one:

Keep an eye out on the Karui Kiba Corporation. Expect a handheld device next quarter.

Aiko Sakurada was spinning around in her chair. Today she had chosen to wear a bright, fiery, red dress. For once they were not in the chunky business room but rather her private office. It was filled with interesting trinkets, had an annoying color theme of pink, and was very loud and eccentric. In other words it was weird as hell and Kenta Ito, the consummate (well not really, but it was the best she could get given her attitude) lawyer, didn't enjoy being in it. His sharp suit led order and semblance to the room, something which he frankly wished her life and indeed her personality in general had more of.

Presently she was whining about something and sounding very much like a schoolgirl.

"Kentaaaaaaaaa," she said, "I don't wanna do these silly budget reports!"

"I'm sorry, Aiko, but you must." No honorifics from him. It had taken a year to get him to call her by her first name again; he was too much of a straight-laced conservative. It was always Sakurada-san. At first, it was even worse, it was Sakurada-sama. She shuddered a little inside.

He grimaced a little on the inside when he said "Aiko". Why was she so laid-back and so heedless of proper societal conventions? It made him a little sick, to be honest.

She collapsed on top of the mahogany desk (a beauty by any standard except perhaps an environmentalist's) and twirled her pen aimlessly. She pouted and whined some more. Kenta looked at his watch. But finally she did what he told her to do.

Two Weeks Since Last

Memorandum
From: Raith Renson
To: Isaac Hayden
Subj: Game Idea

Game Name: The Eight Ocean
Game Type: RPG
Console(s): TBA
Development Status: On Hold
Description: Another series of the traditional RPG loved by many around the world. However, The Eight Ocean will feature an immense world map. Also, the player will also be able to engage in real time ship to ship battles in the sea. There are over twenty different endings each according to the choices players make throughout the story. There are thousands of different items, spells and abilities, due to a new feature for players to create their own items and spells, and highly detailed character customization is also possible. This RPG does not include turn based tactical battle interface, but instead, it will adopt a real time action sequence. There will be no text boxes to read, but full voice recorded interactions - there are no more distinctions between cutscenes and gameplay. This game will use a highly sophisticated graphics engine as well as elaborately defined physics and AI engine to challenge and suit the players' needs. As a multiplayer feature, the game will include co-op mode with completely independent gameplay using split screens. It will be like two different games running at the same time when players go too far from each other; but still part of the same game. Expect the infinite virtual world The Eight Ocean will present. (To do this, they'll need two separate consoles and game DVDs, and it will also require high tech engine to connect the two. All saved information will be stored in a special memory stick by Hayden Games, not console depedent ones.)

Story: In an island continent called Anaroth, there are 4 kingdoms: Adorin, Toki, Teslin, and Vanguard. Of them, Tokians are considered magical creatures, with their powers in their songs. They can make the trees grow, rains to fall, and suns to shine with their powers. In the middle of their kingdom, hidden deep inside the Great Forest, is an ancient temple of Elifer, the god of Adorins. One day, Valagast, emperor of Vanguard, attack the eastern edge of the Great Forest to gain access to the Temple. However, they are stopped by the Toki. This news travel to the ears of the king of Adorin, who at once, sends two of the five Ezrais, High Priests of Lanquin Temple of the North, to investigate the matter: Silas and Nathan. However, they were yet to find that everything has to do with something, or someplace, called the Eight Ocean, the Lanquin prophecy had mentioned, and this was not simply a series of skirmishes but an all out war, possibly the end of their world as they know it.

P.S. ;)

Sounds interesting *sarcastic*. We'll start it as soon as one of the two on going projects are finished. But tell the media anyways. Oh, I am completely serious about the approval. You know which part I'm being sarcastic about. In case you didn't know. Brings back memories? This is going to take a lot of work. Perhaps more than GENOA. You get your butt into this too.
