So there is quite a lot that needs to be talked about befor the next 20 get played. Well some stuff anyway.

Firrst off SP.

I have to say I would not go with anymore of Tradition for the time being. I belive Piety is best for us at the moment as we will want to get as much :) as possible for settling our 3/4 core cities as fast as possible. Also later Piety SPs are pretty strong for us as well. More importantly I think that we can easily get 2 or 3 free temples out of Legalism[?] rathger than 1 or 2 monuments.

next tech? Trapping seems best to me. Might be nice to see where iron is at some point if we want to war, also our UU comes in with the Wheel so thats another possibilty for violence. If not war soon then I say stay on the top of the tree for a bit longer.

This brings us neatly on to expantion. We have lots of avalible land to cover. I think we should just settle and develope peacfully, while we set up our core cities.

If the warrior next to the barb and the next city site waits till the settler can cross the same turn (safely) as him and settles the next turn the barb camp will vanish and make the barb easier to deal with.

For our third city I would start a settler as soon as the National College is done and send it down to thge Pearls/Gold site even if it does piss Hiawatha off a little (and its still avalible).

I've done a dot map.
Spoiler :

The yellow dot is an ok (not great though) GP farm.

The black dot is a production city. The question mark catchs the other horses as well but leaves a bigger gap in our city placement. Stables will be great here. In fact the ? site is better alround as it gets the CDP faster.

The white dot is all about :) resourses. Its also a good production/commerce (civ4 hangover) city. If we can't get it or we decide to not piss off Hiawatha then the white ? becomes a good GP/commerce city.

Delhi is a good gold city and has pretty good hammer production with stables, and later when mines get boosted with an extra hammer.

Thats 4/5 cities I really don't think we want to settle more than that.

Fuinally for now diplo.

We need to decide who to sign RAs and DoF with. Not nessarsarily the same people.

I guess RAs with more backwards (us info addict to see their tech counts) till we have more gold than we know what to do with.

DoF with Hiawatha if he offers agan seems ok. He makes a good friend and nieghbor if your nice to him (usually). Though he can become a moster late game.

I'd hold off to many DoF till we see some blocks starting to form.

Phew!

@ spathage

If you want in the I'm happy to have you! I'm sure the others would love to have you onboard as well.

Welcome aboard Sparthage!

grandad, I'll take a look at the dotmap in a bit. Trying to keep up with school work while touring a country is no easy task. :)

EDIT:
Hold up hold up hold up.

Piety? Before we decide to head off down that Policy tree we need to decide what exactly we're doing. Because of Gandhi's special ability I think we'd be best off with Rationalism to boost our science as much as possible (seeing as pop = science). Or are we going to choose nukes over rocket ships and blast the world to smithereens?

Personally, my vote is for a relatively peaceful, scientific game, but as that definitely would be quite boring for an SG expanding our borders through the Iroquois would be handy for extra science and luxuries...as well as the fun of war.

I dunno....what do the rest of you guys think? I've always found playing a peaceful game more challenging (basically because you're not taking advantage of the AI's weak spot), but for an SG I'd imagine that can get tedious.

What mods were active when you started the game? I need to know so I can make sure that I have them all.

As to how we play the game: How about we try a Bollywood game (3 City, Cultural Win)? I've gotten one at warlord, though it was hard to avoid puppeting those cities that I captured. If no one else is interested in that, I'm happy with a science game.

InfoAddict is the only mod that is needed that changes the save.

As far a SP goes, (my CiV game) with Rationalism you get +2:c5science: from hired specialists, but for some reason I can't hire specialists! I have the latest patches also. Also InfoAddict icon doesn't appear now with the latest patch, even though I have it selected. Which other mods do you have Active?

I like the peaceful teching up to late game war when we're so far advance to roll over the AI.

Strange that you can't hire specialists at all. Is it only in this game or is it consistent across all your games? There are no other mods active other than Info Addict.

So if we go for Rationalism then SPs would be a continuation of Tradition? Or maybe a brief visit to Liberty to grab the +1 culture and free worker...?

It's across all games! I'm going to try a complete uninstall/re-install and see if that fixes it. InfoAddict doesn't come up after the last patch.

Not sure on the SP atm, let's see what the others say.

edit: just checked and YES I can now hire specs! must have been broke in the previous patch.

Well, we seem to have already reached the point where we decide how we want to win. I'm fine with any way that you guys want to go, but I would like to try a Bollywood challenge like I said before. If not, I'm fine with whatever. I just would like to see a Civ5 SG finish for once.

Right. Well. My current vote is in favor of pursuing more or less a science victory, but I'm certainly not opposed to trying for the Bollywood. We'd better make up our minds though as the SP we choose next could very well determine our success at reaching our goal.

Heavy. A big decision this early!

So I'm happy for a sci victory. I think that there is at least 4/5 city site so I feel like sticking to the Bollywood 3 may feel frustrating, for me at least.

So the SP. Rationalism and Freedom are great for sci victory but will require some beelining to get to the Renaissance in a good time. Piety has the sp that reduces city :( which helps us if we do go for more that 3 or 4 cities. Going for Freedom and Rationalism will make going for the Forbiden Place more important.

The other thing to consider is that going for Legalism now means we would get a max of 4 monuments where as I would like to get at least 1 or 2 temples form it. Maybe Liberty is ok for the 1 :c5culture: and then the worker sp is an ok idea.

Are we going to want Patronage SPs?

A science victory also means some TP puppets will be of great help....
